This is the big day: the day of the ascent to Everest base camp .
From Lobuche, you follow a wide valley that runs alongside the Khumbu glacier. The ascent is gradual, ideal for adopting a slow and steady pace, essential at high altitude.
As you approach the moraines of the Changri Nup glacier , the trail becomes more technical, alternating between ascents and descents on rocky terrain dotted with cairns.
After about three hours of walking, you will reach Gorakshep , an ancient glacial moraine that has become the last inhabited hamlet in the region.
This is where you will take a break to eat and get properly equipped before setting off again for the final stage to Everest Base Camp.
From base camp, you won't have a direct view of the summit of Everest, but the scenery is just as impressive: you'll discover majestic glaciers, glacial lakes, spectacular ice formations, and above all, the famous Everest Icefall , a waterfall dreaded by climbers. It marks the entrance to the Western Cwm and is considered one of the most technical and dangerous sections of the ascent.
The return journey follows the same route back to Gorakshep, where you will spend the night.
