Going on a trip to Colombia? Yes, please!
Travelers seeking new adventures across the Atlantic, discover this stunning South American country with its Caribbean beaches, rainforests, and cities rich in history and culture, such as its capital, Bogotá. When it comes to the Colombian coast, imagine idyllic beaches of fine sand with turquoise waters and towering palm trees—you're there! A picture-perfect setting that extends into the tropical jungles, teeming with animals you'll never see on the European continent. Colombia is also a country that has preserved its ancestral customs. You might have the opportunity to discover the Arhuaco community in the Sierra Nevada and their deep connection to "Pachamama," better known as Mother Nature. The most beautiful regions of Colombia, from the capital Bogota to Cartagena via Windiwa
Colombia is an exceptional country thanks to the variety of landscapes it offers. Let's start with the capital, Bogotá. This city, perched at 2,640 meters above sea level, will charm you with its neighborhoods of colorful houses, such as Candelaria, its museums showcasing Colombian culture, and its breathtaking view from Monserrate Hill, accessible by hiking or, for those in a hurry, by cable car. Another must-see in Colombia is the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, a mountain range in the Andes whose highest peak reaches 5,775 meters. Here you'll find an exceptional wealth of natural beauty: eternal snow, cloud forests, and coastal deserts make up this sublime massif. Do you love both the mountains and the sea and aren't one to compromise? The Sierra Nevada mountains plunge directly into the clear waters of the Caribbean, a must-do for travelers who want to be blown away by the scenery.
What is the best time to go sightseeing in Colombia? And other questions you may have.
The best time to explore Colombia is from December to March during the dry season. If you wish to avoid the rainy season, avoid traveling from April to October. However, the rainy season varies across the country. Travelers to Bogotá will enjoy a relatively mild rainy season, as temperatures remain fairly consistent year-round. For your travel plans, we recommend researching the specific region you wish to visit. Our recommendation, however, remains the dry season from December to March.
What is the Covid situation in Colombia?
The Covid-19 vaccine is no longer mandatory for travel to Colombia. If your vaccinations are not up to date, you will need to present a negative PCR test taken within the last 72 hours. However, a vaccination pass will be required to enter bars, restaurants, and museums. It is therefore advisable to be up-to-date on all your vaccinations to fully enjoy the country's public spaces. We recommend checking the guidelines of local authorities before your trip. Regarding vaccinations, it is recommended that children have received the yellow fever vaccine, as well as the DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) and MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccines. Depending on your travel circumstances, you may also want to consider the typhoid fever vaccine, hepatitis vaccines, and the rabies vaccine. For more information on travel requirements, please see our page: Vaccinated, Unvaccinated, Where to Travel?
Is it dangerous to travel to Colombia?
We want to reassure you that traveling in Colombia is not dangerous. Safety has greatly improved since the 2000s, and you will be accompanied by local guides who know their country well. Travel with peace of mind, but as in any country, you should exercise caution if you are walking alone after dark and are unfamiliar with the city where you are staying.
