    Mountaineering

    Beginner
Mountaineering is a demanding sport; consequently, there is no "beginner" physical level for it. If you have never mountaineered before, you can aim for an intermediate or advanced level.
    Intermediate
For fit hikers who wish to experience the high mountains. No specific mountaineering skills are required; the crampon work is straightforward. Guides are on hand to provide instruction and ensure your safety. The daily elevation gain generally ranges from 700 to a maximum of 1,000 meters.
    Confirmed
For those who engage in endurance or mountain sports (running, cycling, trail running, rock climbing, trekking, etc.) three or more times a week. You are capable of hiking for long hours in the mountains and ascending around 1,500 meters in a single day. Ideally, you have some prior high-altitude experience (such as walking in crampons), though this is not essential if you are in excellent physical condition. To aid acclimatization, it is recommended to go mountain hiking in the days leading up to the trip.
    Advanced
For those who regularly practice endurance or mountain sports (running, cycling, trail running, rock climbing, trekking, etc.)—at least four times a week. You are capable of hiking for over eight hours in the mountains and ascending between 1,500 and 2,000 vertical meters in a single day. You have mastered crampon techniques. Prior mountaineering experience (ascents or ice training) is mandatory.
    Expert
For those in excellent physical condition who regularly engage in mountain activities (rock climbing, mountaineering, ice climbing, etc.): you have mastered mountaineering techniques and are capable of undertaking climbs rated D or higher.

In a few words

If you've already climbed a 4000m peak, have high-mountain experience, and are looking for a course that includes acclimatization before attempting the ascent, this course is for you . It's designed to help you reach the summit of Mont Blanc, including two days of acclimatization . This allows you to acclimatize and review basic techniques through snow and ice climbing lessons, BUT it should not be your first time climbing. The ascent of Mont Blanc is then made via the Normal Route. After a night's rest in Chamonix, the ascent of Mont Blanc takes place over the following three days via a gradual climb (Dôme du Goûter, Arête des Bosses). Your efforts will be rewarded with a magical summit and an unforgettable adventure with your guide.

The highlights

  • Ascent of Mont Blanc via the Bosses ridge, a legendary route
  • Acclimatization in the Chamonix valley
  • Snow and ice schools to review the basics in real-world conditions

Management

During this stay, a supervisor will be present to guide and assist you.
Band : 1 supervisor for 3 to 4 people
Languages spoken:
🇫🇷
French
Guide de haute montagne

The trip is supervised by a high mountain guide for a group of 4 participants, who will provide the technical elements necessary for the smooth running of the trip.

For the ascent of Mont Blanc on days 4 to 5, one guide for every 2 participants is provided.

Management

Security

We try our best to anticipate these factors and make the best decisions to help you reach the summit. But in all cases, our priority will always be safety. The high-mountain guide accompanying you knows Mont Blanc intimately and will be best placed to assess the feasibility of the ascent.

As a last resort, he will decide whether or not to continue the climb. For this course, we confirm the possibility of attempting the climb three days before departure. However, it is possible that the weather may ultimately be different from what was forecast (unfortunately, a frequent occurrence in Chamonix).

In this case, the guide can still decide to modify the program or cancel the attempt on the morning of departure.

For safety reasons and to ensure a consistent level corresponding to that announced, the management and organization reserve the right to interrupt your participation if your technical level and/or physical fitness do not correspond to those required.

Under no circumstances will this interruption give rise to a refund or payment of compensation.

Note

Success rates on Mont Blanc with a guide are around 50%: most failures are due to the weather. It's important to know that above 4,000 meters, wind or bad weather often makes the ascent impossible or too dangerous. We try our best to anticipate these factors and make the best decisions to help you reach the summit. But in all cases, our priority will always be safety. The high-mountain guide accompanying you knows Mont Blanc intimately and will be best placed to assess the feasibility of the climb.

As a last resort, he will decide whether or not to continue the climb. For this course, we confirm the possibility of attempting the climb three days before departure. Accommodation

🏔️ Mountain refuge - Days 1 to 4

Nights in mountain huts are spent in dormitories: blankets are provided, but you should bring a sleeping bag liner. Toiletries will be kept to a bare minimum. Slippers are available, so there's no need to bring shoes for the hut. After the days in Italy, the night is planned at the Alpine Club gîte in the village of Le Tour: the same principle as in the huts, with shared rooms and communal bathrooms on the same floor.

As the refuge reservation is non-transferable, no refund will be issued. If you cancel your stay without having purchased the flexible cancellation rate, the refuge will not be refunded (€60 per night).

Our two guides (Philippe and Olivier) were fantastic in building our confidence during this course. After three days of acclimatization in Gran Paradiso (Italy), Mont Blanc was magnificent and revealed itself to us under its most beautiful sun! A magical trip, but one that requires serious physical preparation beforehand to fully enjoy the experience!

Very nice, however the weather was very average we almost gave up before the summit, it's a shame we didn't do an ice climbing course and learn some basic mountaineering techniques to be self-sufficient.

The title of the trip, "From Gran Paradiso to Mont Blanc," was bound to inspire dreams, and for altitude enthusiasts, the entire journey is legendary. However, it's important to keep your feet on the ground: it requires physical and mental endurance. There's stress involved in adapting to the weather and time constraints. There are periods of relaxation to enjoy a drink, a good meal, and laughter while sharing experiences, but overall, the pace is high and demanding. However, this isn't a problem with a minimum level of physical and mental fitness. If you're lucky enough to have exceptional guides and a favorable weather window, it all adds up to the pure joy of the physical effort required to reach the roof of Europe. But the journey isn't over; the descent is very long and still requires a great deal of concentration and effort. Only then will you begin to realize the distance you've traveled, looking back at and sharing photos and memories, gazing once again at Mont Blanc from below, and thinking to yourself, "I was at the summit through the strength of my will and my muscles..."
