Your experienced guides are at the heart of your journey. They are passionate and highly qualified men and women—whether native Icelanders or adopted Icelanders—who are fluent in English and other languages, such as French.

Their primary goal is your safety and the quality of your experience . Each guide is fully trained in wilderness first aid and rescue, ensuring you are in expert hands. They foster team spirit, manage supplies, and master the route, effortlessly adapting to the weather and the group's needs.

They are often supported by an assistant and a driver, who are themselves mountain experts and vital sources of local knowledge. They are dedicated to the success of your adventure, allowing you to focus entirely on the scenery.

Management

Security

This is a guided mountain trek , meaning you can focus entirely on the scenery. You only carry a light daypack with your essentials for the hike. Your main luggage, food, and equipment are transported by our support vehicle.

The trek involves four days of moderate to strenuous walking . You will spend an average of six to seven hours walking per day , although this may vary depending on the weather and the group's pace. While the maximum altitude remains below 1,000 meters and the daily elevation gain is minimal (not exceeding 300 meters), you should be in good physical condition and have some experience with long mountain hikes.

Note on the ground : This trip takes you into completely untouched and isolated areas. The majority of your hike will be off-trail with constantly changing ground conditions — expect soft moss, scree, and rocky sections.

For your comfort and safety:

  1. Footwear is non-negotiable : You must wear sturdy hiking boots that fit well and offer excellent support.
  2. Prepare for water : Most days include river crossings. It is essential to bring a pair of lightweight sandals or water shoes for these sections.

Although the trek is mainly based in mountain huts, you may be required to camp for a few days.
