The expert's opinion

Climbing Kilimanjaro is not a technical climb. However, it is recommended to be in very good physical condition and have some mountaineering experience to maximize your chances of reaching the summit.

We advise you to do some endurance exercise (running, cycling, swimming) at least twice a week, and to stop all intense activity the week before departure to arrive in good shape.

Physical and psychological commitment is important to successfully reach the summit. You reach 5,895 m in 4.5 days, which is difficult in terms of acclimatization.

A minimum of 2 people are required to book this trip. You will be alone with your guide; this is not a group tour.

Hello, overall a great trip. It was in two parts: climbing Uhuru Peak (8 days) and then a safari (4.5 days). 1) The climb was truly fantastic with an incredible team of 15 people, from the porters to the main guide Andrews and assistant guide Thadeus. The atmosphere was really great, the guide was very well organized, and there were no problems with communication or equipment. Highly recommended! 2) Safari: The guide was very young (20 years old) and tried his best, but his French wasn't nearly good enough to hold a conversation beyond a simple sentence, and his English was very limited, which made communication very difficult. Needless to say, we didn't get much information about the animals or the places we visited. We also had a lot of trouble with the car, losing at least an hour a day overall (the car battery was faulty and wouldn't start, forcing us to push the car regularly, or even get push-started by another car) and a whole day wasted at the Ngorongoro Crater (the gearbox broke down). The car was replaced on the last day to take us back to the airport, but we missed our safari. I should point out, however, that although the guide disappointed us, he made a real effort to resolve the problems each time, even if the solution was often inadequate. In conclusion: very satisfied with the first part of the trip, disappointing second part.

It's great to be able to count on Decathlon to take us to the top of Africa!
This company is highly recommended; they offer superb luxury service for a honeymoon, and you can rest assured that your guides and porters will be well treated. Be sure to discuss your itinerary thoroughly with your local agency to ensure a good balance between activity and relaxation (careful hotel selection, time spent in Zanzibar). Thank you!
