For those who want a challenging hike of 7 to 8 hours per day with over 1200 meters of elevation gain off-trail or on rough terrain. High-altitude sections. You have been practicing high-intensity endurance sports several times a week for several years, and you are training for this event.

Day 1 -
The Grand Area (2869 m)

Starting from Pont de Rately (1749 m), we ascend via the route that passes the refuge and the Col de Buffère (2427 m). It's an open and welcoming valley, perfect for warming up before the steeper 450-meter climb between the pass and the summit. We're just under 3000 meters, but the distinctive character of the summit and the superb view over the Guisane and Écrins mountains make it well worth the effort.

From the Fontcouverte parking area (1860 m), we begin a very classic ascent towards the hamlet of Ricou and its refuge, and the lakes Laramon (2359 m), Serpent (2448 m), and des Gardioles. The route is popular but magnificent, and we aim higher. And the higher we climb, the more the view opens up. The Pic du Lac Blanc, just under 3000 meters, offers a vast and unobstructed panorama, all the way to Mont Blanc.

We return to the Laval parking lot (2030 m) to hike up the Clarée River to its source. From Lake Clarée, we cross into Savoy to the Seuil des Rochilles (2459 m). After skirting the Rochilles lakes, we reach the Col des Cerces (2574 m). We leave the marked trails for the final part of our ascent. First, a traverse along ledges above Lake Cerces, then a steep climb into the rocky cirque of the north face. The summit cross rewards us with a "I am worth what I want!" Something to ponder during the effort.

La Gardiole (2753 m)

The hike begins right from the hotel, following the Clarée River and then tackling the climb to Les Planchettes. This loop trail will take us through the Oule and Cristol valleys, in either direction. The first steep ascent takes us through the forest to one of the hanging valleys, followed by a beautiful traverse across alpine pastures before reaching the ridge line, where we'll be rewarded with a stunning view of the Guisane, Écrins, and Queyras mountains.

A classic in our mountain range! A summit straddling the Northern and Southern Alps. From the Laval parking area (2030 m), we ascend through the Muandes valley and its lakes to the Col des Muandes (2828 m) and then to the Roche du Chardonnet (2950 m). We follow the border with Savoie via the Col de Valmeinier to cross the valleys that lead to the characteristic rounded summit of Mont Thabor. A must-do! We can also consider the ascent from the narrow valley, which is slightly easier.

You are staying in a 2* hotel, located in the hamlet of Roubion , at the entrance to Névache.
The hotel's location allows you to set off on your activities without a car. Just steps away, the Clarée, our river with its clear, pristine waters, invites you to peaceful, contemplative relaxation. And when the season is in full swing, the shuttle bus that serves the upper valley is a 3-minute walk away.

Either arriving on the Italian side via the TGV PARIS-OULX
- From this station you will need to take a direct bus to Briançon (€7.50). Tickets must be purchased 48 hours in advance of your trip on the SNCF website.
- Either Paris / Grenoble + bus Grenoble / Briançon
Either arriving directly from Paris/Briançon , by night train or daytime trains:
- From Marseille or Valence, there are direct TER trains to Briançon.

You can drive to the hotel, where there is a large parking lot. We'll keep this description brief, given that in this modern age, GPS is standard equipment in our cars and on our phones.
From the south, you go up the Durance valley to reach Briançon.
From the north and west, you can, like cyclists, pass through the Lautaret pass and its spectacular panorama, or choose the comfort (and its price) of passing through Italy, thanks to the Fréjus Tunnel, a road replica of the ambitious railway project of the mid-18th century.
