    Arrival at Brassus station at 9:30 am, then distribution of participants into cars for a 15-minute drive to reach the start of the hike.

    Through the "pré-bois" (wooded meadows), remarkable landscapes of the Jura region, a legacy of the first inhabitants, we hike to the Refuge du Cunay (1.5 hours). After settling in and having lunch at the refuge, we traverse ridges and valleys, crossing the "cul-de-sacs" (deep valleys), to discover the Pré de St Livre and its geological curiosity: the ice cave (3 hours). Back at the refuge, a warm meal awaits us for dinner and New Year's Eve celebrations! Overnight at the refuge.

You will spend the night in an unguarded mountain refuge: the Cabane du Cunay. There's a good chance we'll be the only occupants. We'll light a fire as soon as we arrive; that's enough to heat the common room and the dormitory!

Blankets are available in the shelter, you must bring a sleeping bag liner and a pillowcase.

If you are sensitive to the cold, there are fleece sleeping bag liners available.

  1. Take the A39 to exit 7 (Poligny) .
  2. Follow the N5 (towards Champagnole / Les Rousses).
  3. Arriving in Les Rousses : enter the centre (pass in front of the Post Office) then turn left towards Bois d'Amont .
  4. Cross through the village of Bois d'Amont (4 km).
  5. Crossing the Swiss border .
  6. Continue for 4 km to Le Brassus .
  7. Meeting point: The train station is on your left , just after the roundabout.

🚘 From the Southeast (via Oyonnax)

  1. Take the A40 then the A404 to Oyonnax .
  2. Follow the signs for St Claude , then follow the signs for Geneva (D436).
  3. 3 km after Septmoncel, turn left onto the D25 (direction Lamoura/Les Rousses).
  4. Just before entering Les Rousses, turn right towards Bois d'Amont .
  5. Cross through the village of Bois d'Amont (4 km).
  6. Crossing the Swiss border .
  7. Continue for 4 km to Le Brassus .
  8. Meeting point: The train station is on your left , just after the roundabout.
