The expert's opinion

This trip is accessible to everyone , including those new to snowshoeing. No prior experience is necessary: ​​a level of fitness allowing you to walk for about two hours at a leisurely pace is sufficient to enjoy most of the outings.

The proposed routes are progressive, with hikes of approximately 4 to 5.5 km and generally moderate elevation gains. Some outings may be a little more challenging, such as the Crêt de la Vigoureuse with approximately 250 m of elevation gain .

For the outing to the Auvernes mountain chalet , several routes can be offered depending on the levels so that everyone can enjoy the experience at their own pace.

The goal is not athletic performance, but the pleasure of snowshoeing and discovering the snowy landscapes of the Haut-Jura . Routes can be adapted according to the group's level, snow conditions, and weather.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced skier, the ESF instructors will share their passion for the mountains with you and allow you to fully enjoy the pleasures of skiing in the heart of the preserved landscapes of the Jura.

Security

Snowshoeing excursions are led by professionals with extensive knowledge of the Haut-Jura mountain range and winter mountain conditions. Routes are selected based on the group's skill level, snow cover, and weather conditions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Before each departure, a briefing is held to review safety instructions and the itinerary of the outing. Each participant is asked to follow the leader's recommendations and stay with the group throughout the hike.

For your comfort and safety, it is essential to plan ahead:

  1. high-top, waterproof hiking boots,
  2. warm clothing suitable for winter activities (3-layer principle),
  3. gloves, a hat and sunglasses,
  4. a water bottle or a thermos,
  5. a small backpack for your personal belongings.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, insufficient snow cover, or for any reason related to group safety, the program may be modified or replaced with an equivalent activity. The goal is to guarantee everyone a pleasant stay, in the best possible conditions and in complete safety.

    Arrival at the Snow & Outdoor Holiday Village in Lamoura from 5:00 PM . Settle into your room, followed by a welcome drink and presentation of the stay with the ESF (French Ski School). You will discover the week's program and can, if you wish, inquire about and register for the optional alpine ski lessons offered.

The program is provided for informational purposes only and may be adapted depending on weather conditions, snow cover, trail conditions, or the participants' skill level. In case of adverse conditions, the team may modify an outing or offer an alternative activity to ensure everyone's comfort and safety.


During school holidays, a children's club welcomes younger children with age-appropriate activities, allowing adults to fully enjoy the activities offered during their stay.


Children enrolled in ESF alpine ski lessons can also benefit from escorting them to their lessons , making it easier for families to plan their days. Ski lessons are separate from the holiday village's entertainment program and must be booked separately. An information session with the ESF is scheduled upon arrival.


The activities offered during the week are optional : there is no obligation to participate in the entire program. Everyone is free to plan their days according to their desires and pace, choosing between snowshoeing, sports activities, local discoveries, entertainment, or moments of relaxation.


The goal: to enjoy a friendly and flexible stay, while benefiting every day from the suggestions and support of the Neige & Plein Air team.
