Snowshoeing adventure amidst snow and nature in the Vercors

A day in the great outdoors naturally begins with a good mountain breakfast featuring slices of country bread and organic homemade jams, local honey, cheese, charcuterie and homemade pastries.

We begin our immersion in the Vercors with one of its most secluded valleys, that of Nave. Following in the footsteps of our guide, we gain altitude in the heart of a natural haven frozen by winter.

Having reached the top of the valley, our efforts are rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the Isère valley. We'll take this opportunity to choose our picnic spot . Will you be tempted by a charming cabin nestled in a snowy clearing, or a viewpoint overlooking the northern peaks of the massif?

Upon returning from our hike, the Nordic bath and sauna await us to soothe our muscles, along with homemade mulled wine to enjoy by the fire. Isn't that what happiness is all about?

Today, we are heading towards the summit of Moucherotte.

We begin our journey through the heart of a peaceful forest. Then, little by little, the spruce trees thin out, the horizon widens, until the Ramées alpine pasture comes into view. Occupied by flocks of sheep in the summer, it gives way, in winter, to a more hushed atmosphere.

This vast, sloping plateau stretches all the way to the Moucherotte, perched at 1,901 meters altitude. From here, the view encompasses the surrounding mountain ranges and plunges down into the Grenoble valley. In winter, when the high-pressure system traps the clouds over the plain, a fascinating spectacle unfolds: an immense sea of ​​cottony clouds covers the valley, while only the sun-drenched peaks emerge.

On our way back down, we stop near the old sheepfold of Les Ramées. It's an opportunity to reflect on the pastoral history of the mountain range and to imagine the life that animates these alpine pastures.

This day takes us to the wild heights of the Quatre Montagnes. From the undergrowth, our route climbs to the Croix de Jaume and its magnificent panorama of the eastern edge of the Vercors massif. We continue our day towards the Croix Servagnet, in the heart of the vast coniferous forests. In this silent setting, the snow becomes a veritable open book: deer tracks, hare trails, and signs left by cervids—all these elements reveal the discreet life of the forest.
