The expert's opinion

Circuit characteristics:

The program offers an average of 2 to 5 hours of activities per day, while leaving free time to relax, read or fully enjoy the Norwegian atmosphere.

Recommended physical preparation:

No need to be a seasoned adventurer: the activities are accessible to all those who like to walk for a few hours, take the time to discover, and marvel at the rhythm of nature.

Physical activity during the stay

This trip is suitable for anyone in good physical condition and does not present any particular technical difficulties. However, the Norwegian climate can be changeable, even in summer, so some days may be more demanding (rain, wind, temperature variations).

The route includes elevation gains of up to 650m, on trails that are sometimes more rugged than those in France, with scree slopes, wetlands, and wooden footbridges. Each day ends in comfortable and welcoming accommodation.

For departures in May and June, snow may still be present on some sections, offering a unique atmosphere and landscapes.

Spirit of the stay:

This trip is experienced in a small group, in a participatory and friendly atmosphere. Everyone is invited to lend a hand: meals, loading luggage into the vehicle—all these small gestures strengthen group cohesion. Solidarity, mutual support, and good humor are the keys to a successful adventure.

Suitable for ages 14 and up.

At the end of the day, we settled into our accommodation and spent our first night on Norwegian soil: the change of scenery began.

From the first days of August: night gradually returns. At this time, it is sometimes possible to observe the first northern lights, provided the sky is clear.

Overall, I was disappointed with this trip. Firstly, because the guide was discovering the area at the same time as us. Even though he did his best, there was virtually no explanation of Norwegian culture or history. Another negative point was the level of physical activity, which was far below what was advertised; we never experienced the walking times or elevation gains indicated in the itinerary. Finally, the logistics were poor, handled by the local agency, which didn't allow the guides to be independent with their vehicles and managed the trips assembly-line style. This resulted in a lot of time wasted waiting for transfers, time that could have been used to explore the islands more thoroughly. In short, in my opinion, the experience was disappointing, especially considering the price, which was far from negligible.

Hello Chloé,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us following your stay in Norway.

We regret to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations and would like to provide some clarification regarding the points raised.

Firstly, regarding transfers, it is indeed specified that these can be done in different ways depending on the logistics on site.

As you have noticed, we do not always have a dedicated vehicle for each group and guide, but this organization, although less independent, is optimized to minimize waiting times as much as possible while efficiently managing stays.

That said, we understand that this may have impacted your perception of the trip and we take note of that.

Regarding the difficulty level of the hikes, we are sorry that the trip did not meet your expectations in terms of physical challenge. This program is usually marketed as a beginner-friendly and easy trip, although the "intermediate" level is sometimes mentioned in some descriptions. There may have been a misunderstanding on this point. If you are looking for more strenuous hikes in the future, we would be happy to direct you to a trip that better suits a more demanding fitness level.

Finally, regarding the guide, we acknowledge that this trip was his first experience with us. While he did his best, we agree that he did not meet our usual standards, particularly with regard to conveying cultural and historical information.

We are committed to better training and selecting our guides so that this does not happen again in the future.

We understand, of course, that these factors contributed to a disappointing experience, especially considering the price of the stay.

We thank you once again for your feedback, which helps us improve our services, and hope to have the opportunity to offer you an experience more in line with your expectations on a future trip.

Feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
