In a few words

This trek, expertly paced by lodge stays, offers a wealth of stunning views across the entire Annapurna range. It's the quintessential Nepal trek , completed in just two weeks . A local guide accompanies you from start to finish, a porter carries your pack, and you gradually ascend from Jagat to Manang through the Marsyangdi Valley, transitioning from subtropical zones to more arid landscapes above 3,000 meters. Along this staircase that leads you towards the giants, you pass through Brahmin, Gurung, and Tibetan villages. Prayer flags flutter in the wind. The Himalayan peaks stretch to the horizon: Manaslu, Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna... It's via the Thorong La pass, at 5,400 meters, that you descend into the lower Mustang Valley . The scenery changes: the valley widens, the land becomes more arid, and the mineral colors shift from ochre to red and green. Stunning villages like Jarkot and Kagbeni dot your descent. From Jomsom, your journey continues to Pokhara, a small town nestled at the foot of the Annapurna range.

The highlights

  • The legendary Himalayan trek in just 2 weeks, customizable to your preferences.
  • The variety of landscapes ranging from lowland rice paddies to high mountain scenery
  • The Thorong pass crossing at 5400 m

A fantastic trip to Nepal! Our French-speaking guide, Keshan, was amazing; we couldn't have dreamed of a better guide for this journey! Keshan speaks excellent French, and with him, we learned so much about the local culture and way of life. Thank you so much, Keshan! He adapted to our requests and allowed us to fully experience this trip. :) The only downside is that the daily distances listed in the quote sent to us beforehand by Buddhi didn't match reality. For example: Tilicho Base Camp to Yakkharka: advertised distance: 16km, 620m elevation gain. Actual distance: 10km, 450m elevation gain. This discrepancy affected 5 of the 7 days of hiking planned. We ended up covering 93km, whereas the quote indicated 130km. It's a shame, as it can be a little frustrating during the trip, even though everything else was perfect. We left at the end of November/beginning of December, and the trail was very quiet. We were able to fully enjoy the exceptional scenery. Throughout the trip, Decathlon had booked us very comfortable hotels and lodges. Our stay was very well organized; we didn't have to think about or manage anything ourselves. The food was delicious; we thoroughly enjoyed it. What we thought would be a sporting adventure turned out to be our best vacation ever—we are thrilled!

Hello Lison,

Thank you for your feedback. We are delighted that Keshan's expertise, the comfort of the accommodations, and the overall organization contributed to the success of your trip to Nepal.

Regarding the discrepancy in mileage, recent modifications to some trails and seasonal variations explain these differences in data. We apologize for this technical inaccuracy and are working with our partner to update the information.

We are happy that this stay remains an excellent memory despite this point.

Overall, we had a good trip. Nepal is a beautiful country, and the Annapurna trek is worthwhile for its scenery, culture, and accessible physical challenge. However, we were somewhat disappointed with our French-speaking guide, Bijay, who ultimately spoke very little French or English. This led to many misunderstandings about the week's schedule, as well as the amount of tips to give to the guide and porters at the end of the trek. When we asked him something, he would sometimes say yes when it meant no—he didn't understand our requests. Furthermore, our guide didn't provide the explanations we expected about his country, its customs, and the surrounding nature. Our questions were never answered clearly, or he simply didn't know the answers. At the end of the trek, the biggest issue became the tipping. We had no idea how much to tip and felt like we were being ripped off: van ride, taxi, porters, and guides. It's customary to tip, but the amount is rather vague, yet on the other hand, we were pressured to give a substantial sum. Finally, our contact, Buddhi, was very helpful and clear in his explanations. The only downside was that we didn't receive a packing list, which is essential for a worry-free adventure.

Hello Pierre-Yves,

Thank you for your feedback following your trek in the Annapurnas. We are delighted that you enjoyed the landscapes and rich culture of Nepal.

We are sorry for the difficulties you experienced with your guide. Although Bijay has already led several groups with positive feedback, we have taken your group's comments into account. He is currently taking French lessons to improve his communication skills.

Regarding tips, our partner systematically shares indicative guidelines, although this remains a different subject depending on the traveler.

Finally, thank you for your feedback on Buddhi, and we will do what is necessary to ensure that the practical documents are systematically transmitted.

Noe and I would like to thank the entire agency for the quality of this trip! The organization from the first day to the last was perfect and seamless. We had an amazing 15 days, completely blown away by the sights. Keshav was an exceptional and very professional guide; we highly recommend him. One thing that could be improved is the transfer from Pokhara to Kathmandu, which would be much better by plane, as it's really too many hours in the car over 15 days. Otherwise, we have absolutely nothing to complain about. A thousand thanks. Alix and Noe
