Note

If you choose to begin the Portuguese Way from Tui, your pilgrimage will start in this ancient border town, nestled at the foot of the Minho River, which separates Galicia from Portugal. In Tui, you'll discover the history of a bishopric that extended beyond the border for centuries. You'll traverse the valleys that form the renowned Rías Baixas, a land of the sea and Albariño wine, and explore the historic towns and villages of Galicia's most inhabited coast, such as Pontevedra, Padrón, and Iria Flavia, the cradle of the Xacobean phenomenon. When you start the Portuguese Way in Tui, you'll be 114 km from Santiago, the final destination of the Camino de Santiago. Upon arrival, you will have fulfilled the requirements of the Compostela, the document that accredits those who complete the pilgrimage on foot to the tomb of the apostle.

The price of this program includes hotels up to 3 stars, as well as guesthouses and hostels. The star rating system is not always relevant on the Camino de Santiago, where some centuries-old buildings, while not qualifying as hotels, far surpass the comfort and charm of many one- or two-star establishments.
