The expert's opinion

Circuit characteristics

This trip offers an average of 4 hours of activities per day, without any particular technical difficulty. It's ideal for anyone who loves nature, adventure, and the great outdoors, with a desire to experience the great outdoors regardless of the conditions. The program intentionally leaves free time to relax, read, or soak up the unique atmosphere of Sweden. No prior experience is necessary for dog sledding or snowshoeing. However, a good ability to adapt to the climate is required: temperatures can drop as low as -30°C, and the snow can make some days more physically demanding.

Physical activity during the stay

The activities are accessible to anyone who enjoys walking and outdoor experiences. Light preparation is recommended for those not used to walking: a few short walks before departure will allow you to fully enjoy your stay. Snowshoeing and hiking in the snow require additional effort.

Sled dogs

Participants work in pairs, sharing a sled and taking turns driving a team of 5 to 10 dogs. The course is progressive and suitable for beginners. Occasionally, it may be necessary to assist the dogs by walking slightly on some uphill sections.

Welcome to Swedish Lapland, at the gateway to the Far North.

Our adventure begins with a flight to northern Sweden, to Luleå, the gateway to these vast wilderness areas. There, we have our first warm exchanges with our guide and the rest of the group: smiles, conversations… the spirit of adventure is already present.

We then take the road towards Jokkmokk, an iconic village at the end of the world, nestled in the heart of the immense boreal forests.

Settling into our accommodation and first night in the Arctic latitudes.

Note

This itinerary is provided as a guide only: depending on weather and operational conditions, your tour guide may modify the itinerary day by day, for your safety and that of the group or for organizational reasons.

Light and seasons

From December to February: this is the period of the polar night. The days are very short, but a soft and constant light persists, allowing you to fully enjoy activities.

From February onwards: the days gradually lengthen and daylight returns, offering magnificent contrasts on the snowy landscapes.

Northern Lights

The Northern Lights are natural phenomena as fascinating as they are unpredictable. Their appearance depends on solar activity and sky clarity, and therefore can never be guaranteed. In Swedish Lapland, they can be observed from the beginning of winter, when the nights are long and the sky perfectly clear, sometimes offering an unforgettable spectacle. Some activities may require the use of a headlamp.

Accommodation

During this stay, you will sleep in several different accommodations.
