The Authentic: Horse riding, sightseeing and gastronomy in the Lot

After breakfast, set off on your first horseback ride to discover the caselles, these iconic dry-stone huts built long ago by shepherds. You will quickly realize the importance of stone (limestone) in the local landscape. An unavoidable constraint for working the land, it became one of the essential elements of the Lot region's culture.

Back to the Mas for lunch, then off again for a second horseback ride towards the Bélinac menhir. This megalith, over three meters high, is one of the last remaining witnesses to the rituals practiced by the peoples who once inhabited our territory.

Return to the Mas for some relaxation followed by dinner together.

Today's ride will take you to Camboulit, a small village upstream in the Célé Valley where Jeremy's great-grandfather was born at the very beginning of the 20th century. After spending the morning on horseback, you'll meet up with Christophe, our favorite wine merchant, for a wine tasting workshop featuring local wines. Cahors, Côtes du Lot, Coteaux du Quercy... you're in red wine country. But rest assured, white wine lovers will also find plenty to enjoy.

A pleasant picnic featuring local products will conclude the tasting before we remount our horses and head back towards the Célé Valley. We plan to return to the Mas in the late afternoon for some relaxation followed by our traditional potluck dinner.

You'll reunite with your horses for a third day in the saddle. After descending into the Célé Valley, passing through the charming village of Corn, you'll set foot on one of the most beautiful sections of the famous Way of St. James (GR651). After passing the mysterious Bual spring, you'll discover a boxwood forest where fairies and witches seem to dwell... A few more kilometers and you'll reach the Priory of Espagnac, an architectural gem dating back to the 13th century.

You will have lunch at the priory before joining the ridge trail on horseback and enjoying a magnificent hike with a fascinating diversity of landscapes.

Alternatively, instead of this horseback riding excursion, we will offer those who wish to do so a guided tour of the Padirac Chasm and the sanctuary village of Rocamadour.

The horses are resting. Wednesday morning is yours to relax or take a walk around the property. After lunch at the Mas, we will follow in the footsteps of Cro-Magnon at the Pech Merle cave. There you can admire numerous prehistoric frescoes dating back more than 29,000 years!

Next, we headed to the medieval village of Saint-Cirq Lapopie, one of the most beautiful villages in France, perched above the Lot River. A pure marvel! Dinner at a restaurant in the heart of the village, then back to the Mas.

You will then rejoin your horses to fully enjoy this last day in the saddle. The Causse loop will take you towards Livernon, between dry stone walls, oak forests, traditional architecture, and sweeping panoramas... A region that remained isolated for a long time, primarily agricultural, where we are still fortunate enough to encounter a rich and diverse array of flora and fauna. This leg of the journey promises some truly beautiful moments on horseback, and lunch will be an opportunity to discover the goat cheeses of a local producer.

In the late afternoon, return to the Mas to share a final meal prepared by your hosts and enjoy a little longer the atmosphere of your stay.
