In a few words
This 7-day trek takes you far from the tourist trails, between Lugu Lake and the Yangtze River Gorges in northwestern Yunnan. Starting at Lugu Lake, the territory of the Moso people, a matrilineal society, you'll hike from village to village through rarely visited Yi, Pumi, and Naxi hamlets. The itinerary includes a 3,600-meter mountain pass, terraced rice paddies, forests, two Yangtze River crossings by local boat, and long trails perched high above the river. You'll discover the "Stone Village," perched overlooking the gorges, whose viewpoint offers an unforgettable sunset. Nights are spent with local families or in small village guesthouses, sharing in the daily life of the locals. Accompanied by a local guide, you'll hike with an elevation gain of up to 1,000 meters per day. An authentic journey, blending nature and culture, suitable for experienced hikers.

Management
Mr. Mu, your Naxi guide
He belongs to the Naxi ethnic group and divides his time between Stone Village and Lijiang. In his fifties, a certified trekking guide, he knows these mountains like the back of his hand and has already led dozens of groups on this route. He speaks Chinese, English, and several local languages. Experienced in hiking in all conditions, including to snow-capped peaks, he loves nothing more than sharing the traditions and customs of his region with foreign travelers.
Mr. Mu works with his family: his brother and son join him in the family business, and his cousin runs the guesthouse where you'll be staying in Stone Village. With them, you'll travel at the pace of a local family, for authentic encounters.
