In a few words

Nicknamed the spur of Italy, the Gargano rises proudly above the Adriatic Sea . This limestone promontory, protected by a National Park , reveals a wild and authentic side of the Puglia region. Your adventure begins at Monte Sant'Angelo , the spiritual heart of the massif, before venturing into the depths of the Foresta Umbra . Beneath the canopy of this ancient, mystical forest, you will walk in the footsteps of pilgrims along the famous Sacred Way of the Lombards , an ancient historical route to Jerusalem.

Between crystal-clear waters and white cliffs, this route alternates between moments of quiet contemplation and immersion in nature. You'll traverse contrasting landscapes, where lush vegetation meets the azure horizon, before finally reaching the charming port of Vieste . This journey is a true invitation to step back in time, blending local traditions , authentic cuisine, and breathtaking panoramas of the Croatian coast. A unique adventure to discover the soul of this unspoiled peninsula.

The expert's opinion

A multi-day trek with several hikes along the coast (days 2 and 3, and at the end of day 6), including one night by the sea (day 2) in a hotel with a swimming pool. Spring is the best time for flowers (orchids). This itinerary is very wild and offers a beautiful and genuine immersion in nature.

PHYSICAL LEVEL:

For a motivated, fit hiker who engages in varied and regular physical activity.

3 to 5 hours of walking per day, with an elevation gain ranging from +/-150 to a maximum of 500m.

TECHNICAL LEVEL:

Several sections are off-trail (unmarked paths, and sometimes no trail at all). Some sections are quite technical, as they are rugged and rocky. Hiking poles are recommended.
