In a few words

For a long weekend, in the heart of the protected La Jarjatte valley, we offer a spectacular adventure with this bivouac trek. Surrounded by the high limestone fortresses typical of the Dévoluy massif, the site is exceptional. The landscapes, with their distinctly alpine character, are truly extraordinary. From Grenoble , you can easily reach the Lus-la-Croix-Haute train station, the starting point of the adventure. The first bivouac will be set up in the alpine pastures overlooking the La Jarjatte valley. On the second day, a climb that is both technical and enjoyable leads us to the shores of Lake Lauzon . This lake, though modest, is a true gem nestled in the heart of a verdant valley, itself surrounded by high limestone cliffs. After dropping off our equipment, we continue upwards to take in these landscapes sometimes compared to the Dolomites . An experienced guide will accompany you to discover this secluded and wild mountain.

The highlights

The expert's opinion

The hikes on this self-guided trek take place in mountainous terrain. The trip is suitable for people in good physical condition. It is necessary to have:

- regular sports activities or hiking,

- a physical condition allowing one to walk regularly at an average pace of 300m of positive elevation gain per hour excluding breaks.

- sufficient balance and motor skills to progress safely on uneven, sloping terrain and which may include off-trail sections.

- Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts.

Note

PROGRAM CHANGE

For organizational reasons, weather conditions or the fitness of participants, we may need to adapt the program to ensure your safety and the success of the stay.

ALTERNATIVE IN CASE OF UNFAVORABLE WEATHER

This program is weather dependent. To ensure the success of your weekend, we may decide on the following alternatives:

- Overnight stays in unguarded shelters instead of bivouacking in tents.

- Change of destination to a nearby mountain range with more favorable weather.

In these situations, we will do our best to adapt the program to your transport constraints if possible.

The bivouac site is located in the heart of a protected area (Regional Park, Natura 2000 site), allowing this activity with the utmost respect for nature. We aim to minimize the impact of our activities and ensure they are in harmony with this fragile environment. To this end, we must limit waste production on site and prioritize the use of eco-friendly hygiene products. Water availability is also limited to springs that must be protected from any pollution.
