Note

At the beginning of the season, you may have to cross snowfields. Some descents can be a bit rocky, which is why choosing the right footwear is important, and we recommend using telescopic poles.

Depending on your departure day, night 4 will be spent at the Arpette relay or the Bonnati refuge, and night 5 at the Mont-Blanc inn or the Arpette relay.

Accommodation

🏔️ Mountain refuge - Days 1 to 6

In traditional mountain huts/gîtes, overnight stays are in dormitories . Bring your usual snoring-prevention measures. Dormitories are equipped with blankets. However, be sure to bring a sleeping sheet and pillowcase for a more comfortable night's sleep. These days, almost all huts have showers (sometimes requiring tokens), so bring your toiletries (soap, towel, etc.). The bathrooms are shared on each floor.

Overall, the organization was good; the Antai app guided us throughout our journey. The sites and refuges were quite nice (except for Monte Bianco in Italy), but I hadn't realized we needed to take a shuttle or bus to get back on track. However, buses in Italy in September are infrequent, which meant a very late start in the morning (the last bus was at 10:00 AM).

Hello Christian,

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you appreciated the organization and support provided by the Antaï app. Regarding the Monte Bianco refuge and bus transfers, these are indeed included in the trip and are at the participants' expense. We have noted your comment about the schedules in Italy to better inform our future travelers.

Looking forward to seeing you again for another adventure,

Have a great trip with Decathlon Travel; the organization was top-notch and the scenery was magnificent. Be aware that the route accurately reflects what's described on the website, as this wasn't exactly the case for our Tour du Mont Blanc, particularly regarding the length of the stages.

Decathlon Travel's response
Translated from French

Hello Quentin,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're delighted that you enjoyed the welcome, the luggage handling, and the ALTAI app!

We have taken note of your comments regarding the breakdown of the stages. It is true that some cumulative distances may differ slightly from what is indicated on the website. We will strive to make this information more accurate so that the route reflects the reality on the ground as closely as possible.

Regarding the stage between Chamonix and Les Houches, it is indeed a rarely used route, as the trip usually ends in Chamonix. Your feedback is valuable and prompts us to consider how to better present this aspect on the trip description.

Thank you again for your constructive feedback, which helps us to continually improve the quality of our stays.

The Altaï app isn't very accurate. I often had to use Google Maps. The progress tracking isn't reliable. In short, I'm not very satisfied with the app, which doesn't detract from the beauty of the landscapes I explored.

The TMB (Tour du Mont Blanc) in mountain huts and without a guide, over 7 days in September, was truly an extraordinary experience. The navigation app was excellent. Breathtaking scenery and magnificent routes, both beautiful and challenging. We were glad we didn't have to book the huts in advance.
