In a few words

Iceland: the real Iceland, not the postcard image.

12 days. Secret trails. Legendary spots. Landscapes that hit you right in the face.

Here, the landscapes change faster than the light.

One day you're walking on a black sand beach, the salty wind whipping your face. The next, you're climbing into the heart of the rainbow mountains of Landmannalaugar before plunging into a steaming hot spring… here, every turn is a surprise.

And when evening comes, forget hotels: it is in a tent, surrounded by the wind and the midnight sun or the stars, that you truly feel Iceland.

A raw, wild, unforgettable journey — ready to blow your mind!

The expert's opinion

Circuit characteristics:

This trip includes 4 to 7 hours of activity per day, without any major technical difficulties. However, the environment can be demanding due to Iceland's changeable weather conditions: cold, wind, and rain. A good ability to adapt is therefore essential.

Recommended physical preparation:

To fully enjoy this adventure, good physical condition is strongly recommended.

Ideally, you practice an endurance activity (running, brisk walking, swimming, cycling…) once or several times a week, and you are used to walking moderate to long distances, with elevation changes.

Physical activity during the stay:

The route presents no major technical difficulties, with moderate elevation gains (up to 750m). The suggested itineraries are suitable for hikers with regular experience in mid-mountain terrain. Some sections may be steep or uneven, may involve river crossings, and the elements (wind, rain) can influence the physical intensity of the days.

Spirit of the stay:

This trip is experienced in a small group, in a participatory and friendly atmosphere. Everyone is invited to lend a hand: helping to set up camp, preparing meals, loading the vehicle… all these small gestures strengthen group cohesion. Solidarity, mutual support, and good humor are the keys to a successful adventure.

Suitable for ages 14 and up.

No time to lose, let's head to the mythical Golden Circle and the Thingvellir site, the Parliament Valley. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it was here that the Althing, one of the oldest parliaments in the world, met from the year 930.

Note

This itinerary is provided as an indication: depending on weather and operational conditions, your tour guide may modify the day-by-day itinerary for your safety and that of the group or for organizational reasons.

Things to know before you leave:

Atlantic puffins:

From August 15th, these birds leave the Icelandic coast to migrate offshore. After this date, it is no longer possible to observe them locally.

Lupins (flowers):

Lupin season runs from mid-June to the end of July. These blue-violet flowers blanket vast stretches of Iceland, creating spectacular landscapes, even though Icelanders often consider them a "weed." They can be admired along Route 1 and in many other locations throughout the country.

Light and seasons:

From late May to early August: midnight sun (the day hardly sets).

From the first days of August: night gradually returns. At this time, it is sometimes possible to observe the first northern lights, provided the sky is clear.
