In a few words

The Annapurna Circuit, one of the most beautiful treks in Nepal ! Considered a must- do for any trekking enthusiast, this route promises total immersion in an incredible diversity of landscapes . The adventure begins in Jagat, in the heart of the Marsyangdi Gorge, the gateway to the northern slopes of the Annapurna massif .

Your gradual ascent will take you through verdant rice paddies and dense forests before you encounter the majesty of the high mountains. The appearance of the first stupas and mani walls marks your entry into Buddhist territory, where you will meet the Nepalese-Tibetan ethnic groups. Passing through villages, you will walk beneath the imposing gaze of Annapurna II, III, and IV , whose snow-capped peaks rise to over 4,000 meters above you.

The highlight of this journey? The legendary ascent of the Thorong La pass , reaching an altitude of 5,416 meters . A day of intense effort rewarded by a spectacular descent into the arid landscapes of Mustang and a breathtaking panorama of the east face of Dhaulagiri I (8,167 meters) . After returning to civilization at the Hindu sanctuary of Muktinath and enjoying a final walk in Lower Mustang, a flight will take you back to the tranquility of Pokhara . It is on the shores of Phewa Lake , overlooking the peaks you have just climbed, that you will enjoy a final evening of relaxation to conclude this unforgettable trip.

The highlights

  • A unique variety of landscapes and cultures, along a legendary route.
  • The excursion to the glacial lake Tilicho, a turquoise jewel perched at an altitude of 4,919 m
  • The evening in Pokhara, near Phewa Lake

Management

During this stay, a supervisor will be present to guide and assist you.

Guide de trekking népalais francophone

This trip is led by a French-speaking Nepalese trekking guide. A local team will assist you during the trek (depending on the group size and logistical needs):

  1. Sirdar : he is in charge of logistics, and of the team of porters.
  2. Porters : During the trek, our belongings are carried by porters. Porterage is a historical tradition in Nepal, dictated by the very rugged terrain. Being very mindful of our team's working conditions, we ensure that our porters work in the best possible conditions. On our trips, we provide one porter for every two travelers, and the load is limited to 30kg per porter. We therefore ask that you limit your belongings to 12kg per person (belongings carried by the porter).
  3. Assistant guides : In addition to the French-speaking guide, non-French-speaking assistant guides are present. They are responsible for actively assisting clients, particularly by leading or bringing up the rear, to allow all participants to walk at their own pace.

Management

Security

High mountains are a unique environment, often harsh on the body (cold, dryness, sun, hypoxia, etc.). Among the various altitude-related illnesses, the symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) must be recognized and never underestimated. These are signs of an excessively rapid ascent: your body hasn't had time to adapt to the lack of oxygen (hypoxia). Headaches, insomnia, loss of appetite, edema, and nausea are the most common symptoms. These symptoms are common and relatively mild when they remain moderate. They disappear over time, provided you slow down or stop the ascent. Otherwise, AMS can lead to serious health problems.

An exceptional trip... The Annapurna Circuit is considered by some to be one of the most beautiful treks in the world, and deservedly so! Our guide, Suman, was exemplary, both during the trek itself and with the visits and advice on activities. I read in a previous review that this trek was accessible to everyone, but I don't really agree. It requires a minimum level of fitness, because above 3000m, the walking becomes more challenging. Furthermore, you shouldn't rely on the indicated distances; they are inaccurate—there are fewer. In any case, if you want a truly enriching experience, both physically and spiritually, go for it!!! Jam Jam!

A beautiful trek on a fairly popular route, with some sections on dusty tracks. However, crossing the pass at 5416m is a truly magical experience, and the scenery is breathtaking. The porters and guides were very friendly; a big thank you to Sajjan for his support!

The Annapurna circuit is accessible to everyone, it does not require extensive trekking experience, and the fact that we carry very little of our belongings during the day makes the route easy.
However, living conditions are sometimes quite spartan and harsh, and you need to prepare for this before leaving.
We were lucky enough to be a small group of 3, and with a very good French-speaking guide. Everything was organized; you just have to follow the guide.
Apart from trekking, we spent 1 full day in Pokhara, and 3 days in Kathmandu, which also allowed us to visit the two largest cities in the country.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a purely physical challenge, this trek isn't for you. However, if what interests you is being blown away by the breathtaking mountains and the vastness of the landscape, then go for it!

A trip to take at least once in a lifetime! Discovering breathtaking landscapes, meeting local people and experiencing their customs, we traveled through time and space, our heads in the clouds and our feet at over 5,000 meters altitude! The support from the local French-speaking team was flawless. Their professionalism, good humor, and encouragement gave us wings! Thank you to the entire Pourna team! Thank you Decathlon Travel!
