In a few words

Climbing Kilimanjaro is more than a physical challenge: it's an encounter . An encounter with yourself, facing the immensity of the landscapes. An encounter with a dedicated local team, proud to accompany you step by step to Uhuru Peak, at 5,895 meters. We have chosen responsible mountain tourism, where every guide, every porter, every cook is fairly compensated from the outset.

By choosing the Marangu route – the only one with nights spent in mountain huts – you opt for a gradual, gentle, and accessible ascent, without sacrificing authenticity or challenge. And above all, you participate in a more equitable model , where people remain at the heart of the experience.

The highlights

  • A human and authentic experience
  • An expedition where ethics are as high as the peaks you will reach.
  • The first route used by Kilimanjaro climbers

The expert's opinion

A good basic level of physical fitness is required : you must be able to walk for several hours a day on varied terrain with elevation changes. Cardiorespiratory endurance and experience walking are essential to complete the stages without becoming exhausted. Finally, a certain degree of mental resilience is necessary to overcome accumulated fatigue and adapt to basic comforts or unpredictable weather .

Stanley

Stanley, founder of the partner agency and former porter for over 10 years on Kilimanjaro, will be there to welcome you, brief you and congratulate you at the end of your trek!

After observing for years the abuses surrounding the ascent of Kilimanjaro, Stanley chose to create his own agency in order to guarantee truly dignified conditions, both for the local teams and for the trekkers:

  1. 👟 Suitable equipment and footwear for guides and porters
  2. 🍲 Nutritious and decent meals for the whole team

A lunch together will also be organized at the end of your trek to share your anecdotes, moments of effort, suffering, joy and emotion during this unique adventure on the roof of Africa!

Steve
Steve

Stephen Peter, known as "Steve," is a 29-year-old guide with eight years of experience as a porter on Kilimanjaro. Always cheerful, he is very concerned about the well-being of his trekkers and knows how to get them to the summit safely.

Why is your rise to power ethical and based on solidarity?

  1. The guides and porters are fairly paid , with decent working conditions, appropriate equipment, and adequate meals throughout the climb.
  2. Tips are included in the price, to avoid putting any pressure on travelers or the local team.
  3. Part of the trip is donated to our partner's foundation , which supports development projects for the inhabitants of Kilimanjaro.

Management

Security

1. Altitude Management

The main danger on Kilimanjaro is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) .

  1. Adopt the "Pole Pole" rhythm: Meaning "slowly" in Swahili, it's the golden rule. Walk at a deliberately slow pace to give your body time to acclimatize.
  2. Be completely transparent with your guide about your fatigue, headaches, or nausea.
  3. Stay well hydrated: Drink 3 liters of water per day . High-altitude air dries out very quickly, and hydration helps to thin the blood to counteract the effects of oxygen deprivation.
  4. Eat even if you're not hungry: Altitude suppresses your appetite, but exertion burns calories. Finish the meals prepared by the team's cooks.

2. Collaboration with the team

  1. Listen to your guide without hesitation: They know the mountain perfectly and are often certified in high-altitude mountaineering ( Wilderness First Responder ). If they decide to bring you back down for your safety, never insist on continuing.

3. Equipment

Prepare for extreme temperatures: You'll start in a tropical rainforest (around 30°C) and end up in an arctic climate at the summit (down to -15°C at night). Strictly adhere to the three-layer system.

Protect yourself from the sun: At nearly 6,000 meters, the UV index is extreme. High-SPF sunscreen, lip balm, and category 4 sunglasses are essential to prevent snow blindness.
