Security

Our guides are highly experienced in the prevention, detection and treatment of altitude sickness, as they accompany more than 800 mountaineers each year.

They perform two daily health checks using a pulse oximeter to monitor your oxygen saturation and heart rate.

They use the Lake Louise Altitude Sickness System (LLSS) to determine if you are experiencing symptoms of altitude sickness, as well as their severity.

Our guides are certified "Wilderness First Responder (WFR)". They have the skills and equipment necessary to make critical medical and evacuation decisions on site.

Our staff carry bottled oxygen on all climbs and can administer it quickly in case of moderate or severe altitude sickness.

A portable stretcher is carried on the northern routes to evacuate climbers who need to descend but cannot walk on their own. Wheeled stretchers, provided by the park, are available on the other routes.

Our team is able to trigger a helicopter evacuation through Kilimanjaro MedAir, an air rescue service.

Our staff carry a first aid kit to treat minor scrapes, cuts and blisters.

Despite my trip being delayed by a day due to a late flight, the local agency and Decathlon Travel were incredibly responsive and flexible, ensuring I was welcomed and able to start my adventure in the best possible conditions. The group that supported me on the climb was simply exceptional; John, my guide, is now a friend. I got along very well with everyone, and everything was done to ensure a successful ascent—the team's experience was evident. I highly recommend them!
