Security

Our guides have extensive experience in the prevention, detection and treatment of acute mountain sickness, as they accompany more than 800 climbers per year.

They perform two health checks per day using a pulse oximeter to monitor your oxygen saturation and heart rate.

They use the Lake Louise Sickness Score (LLSS) to determine if you have symptoms of altitude sickness and to assess its severity.

Our guides are certified Wilderness First Responders (WFR). They have the necessary tools to make critical medical decisions and organize evacuations on site.

Our team carries bottled oxygen on all climbs and can administer it quickly to treat climbers suffering from moderate to severe altitude sickness.

Our team has a portable stretcher on the northern routes to evacuate climbers who need to descend but cannot walk on their own. Wheeled stretchers provided by the park are available on other routes.

Our team can trigger a helicopter evacuation via Kilimanjaro MedAir and has a first aid kit to treat minor scrapes, cuts and blisters.

Other supervisors

During this trip, in addition to the guides, we will also be accompanied by a sufficient number of porters and a head cook.
