In the land of lakes and waterfalls of Haute-Savoie

A beautiful loop in the Sixt-Passy nature reserve, going up the tumultuous Giffre torrent, through the Cirque du fer à cheval.

We will go back up to the far reaches of the Giffre valley, The End of the World, to admire the many waterfalls that mark the route.

Elevation gain: 500 m, Walking time: 5 hours

We will depart from the Lededian Bridge on a forest path with panoramic views. We will have several viewpoints overlooking the Giffre Valley.

This path will lead us to the bucolic alpine pasture of Gers, where its lake and refuge are nestled.

In a protected natural area, we will move between clearings, forests, and alpine pastures. The forest opens onto clearings, allowing us to admire the view over the Giffre valley and the imposing Mont Blanc range.

One of the most beautiful hikes in the valley.

We will set off into the Sixt nature reserve, along a path that will lead us through the Sales valley to the chalet of the same name.

A trail dotted with beautiful waterfalls, which could also lead us to encounter ibex.

Elevation gain: 700 m, Walking time: 5 hours

We will follow a pleasant forest path upstream along the Giffre des Fonts to the cirque of the same name. It is there, below the Buet mountain, that the torrent will be formed, also by waterfalls.

This will be an opportunity to visit the Rouget waterfall, also known as "the Queen of the Alps," the most majestic waterfall in the valley. In the late afternoon, you will have time for shopping and a visit to the village of Samoëns.

This is your departure day after breakfast. For those leaving by train, departure is scheduled for 9am from the mountain center to Cluses train station (approximately 45 minutes).
