Guided hike in Iceland: complete tour via the Ring Road

Today, you will discover the magnificent south coast of Iceland, between farmland, rivers and spectacular waterfalls.

You will travel along the Atlantic Ocean with several photo stops.

First stop: the powerful Skógafoss waterfall. Those feeling energetic can climb the 527 steps to enjoy an exceptional view of the coast.

Then a stop at the black sand beach of Reynisfjara, famous for its basalt columns.

Last experience: the Katla ice cave, located in the Kötlujökull glacier. After a safety briefing and equipment distribution, you will walk on the glacier with a guide before entering the ice cave.

Overnight stay in or near Vík.

Heading east along the south coast, passing through the volcanic desert of Skeiðarársandur and Skaftafell National Park.

You will participate in a glacier hike of approximately 3 hours with an expert guide and technical equipment. You will discover crevasses, glacial moulins and spectacular landscapes.

Further east, a stop at the Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, where icebergs from the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier float. Possibility of seeing seals.

Boat trip on the lagoon to get close to the icebergs.

Night in the Vatnajökull glacier region.

Head east towards the wild fjords, a still unspoiled and very peaceful region. There's a chance of spotting wild reindeer.

Possible stops: Djúpivogur, Lake Lagarfljót, fishing villages and spectacular fjords.

Overnight stay in the East Fjords region.

Route towards the north and the volcanic region of Mývatn.

Visit to the Stuðlagil canyon, famous for its basalt columns.

Then we discovered Dettifoss, one of the most powerful waterfalls in Europe.

Visit to Dimmuborgir and the Námaskarð geothermal area.

Stop at Goðafoss waterfall before arriving in Akureyri, capital of the north.

Route west with a detour via Hauganes, a small coastal village.

Whale watching excursion: humpback whales, minke whales, porpoises and white-beaked dolphins.

Night in the Borgarnes area.

Exploration of the Snæfellsnes peninsula.

Stops: Gerðuberg cliffs, Ytri-Tunga light sand beach, Djúpalónssandur volcanic beach.

View of the Snæfellsjökull glacier, made famous by Jules Verne.

End of the day at Mount Kirkjufell, the most photographed mountain in Iceland.

Night in Stykkishólmur.

Exploring the Borgarfjörður valley.

Discovering Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe.

Visit to Reykholt, a major historical site.

Then Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls.

Optional: visit to the Víðgelmir lava cave.

The tour ends in Reykjavík in the early evening.
