You leave behind the Anti-Atlas mountains and glide gently towards the arid plains at the edge of the Sahara. The landscapes open up, becoming more mineral, more raw… the change of scenery is total.
Then a village appears, nestled in the heart of a spectacular canyon, where nearly 300 families still live. Here, there are no tourist buses, no crowds. Just silence, ochre rock, and village life unfolding at its own pace. It's one of our favorite places: a rare, peaceful spot, perfect for genuine encounters and simple conversations with the locals.
You set off for a walk through the gorges to the source and its natural pool. Depending on the season, you can swim in the gueltas, these pools carved out by the wadi, in a magnificent setting.
On the way back, a short climb leads you to an agadir perched on a rocky outcrop. This remarkably well-preserved ancient fortified granary once served as a refuge and storage place for the villagers.
The walk remains accessible and without major difficulty — the key is to take your time, observe, and feel. A truly intense, and hopefully unforgettable, day that will end with a 1.5-hour drive to your accommodation for the night, located in a beautiful oasis.
