The expert's opinion

This trek is a true adventure, taking place in remote, high-altitude regions on wild and pristine trails. It's a challenging trip (4/5): expect long ascents and descents, as well as substantial days of hiking. You don't need to be an athlete, but good physical fitness and strong motivation are essential to fully enjoy the experience.

From the valley, you'll enjoy a sweeping panorama before venturing into the dense jungle . You'll follow an ancient trail laid out by the Karen people, once used to connect villages along the river. Now rarely used, it's sometimes barely discernible, and your guide may have to clear the way with a machete.

You hike through lush vegetation to a secluded waterfall , perfect for a lunch break. After several hours of walking, the landscape suddenly opens up. The descent, steep and sometimes slippery, leads you out of the forest to the first rice paddies stretching as far as the eye can see. You cross these meticulously tended fields, observe the locals at work, and gradually reach the wooden houses of the Karen village of Mae Kha Piang , located at an altitude of 700 meters.

At the end of the day, you discover the simple life of the village. After a shower, you share dinner with a local family and spend the night in their house, overlooking the rice paddies.
