    You'll arrive aboard the sailboat in Hendaye in the late afternoon. Your skipper will welcome you and show you your accommodations for the week. After a tour of the boat, you may have the opportunity to learn how the sailboat operates (sail handling, knots, etc.) with your skipper. This evening, you'll dine with your skipper, who will have prepared a typical local meal.

We spent a wonderful week on Jean-Yves and Thérèse's catamaran, sailing along the Spanish Basque coast between Hendaye and San Sebastián with our two 13-year-old children. Our lovely, helpful, and very accommodating hosts made this excellent experience an unforgettable one for the four of us. Attentive and thoughtful, they went out of their way to spoil us, whether with delicious dinners or enjoyable sailing trips. Jean-Yves delighted me by hoisting the sail even though there wasn't much wind, and what can I say about my son catching his first fish? The suggested route is excellent, except for the overnight stay in the port of Orio (a rather charmless port right next to the highway), which we were able to avoid thanks to our fellow boaters' local knowledge. Instead, we spent the night in Getaria, a small port a little further along the coast but so much more charming. The end of our stay was also tailored by Jean-Yves and Thérèse to our wishes, and we spent more time in San Sebastián. Hats off to the Captain for his mastery of the catamaran in that tiny harbor! He was also attentive and helpful on the return trip to Hendaye, saving me an hour's wait for the shuttle (I had parked on the Spanish side). Jean-Yves took me across the bay in the dinghy and waited for me to return with the car to pick up the rest of the family. A truly wonderful experience that I highly recommend: Basque Country: check; Family hiking: check; Life on a sailboat: check.
