A magnificent stay, however the accommodation and food were significantly better at Relais des Merveilles than at Boréon. The weather was also worse on the second day, and the Vésubie valley was quite depressing. But I think for us Alsatians the drive was too long: 14 hours downhill and 12.5 hours on the return. We prefer to stay and hike in our northern Alps. Thank you.

Overall, the hikes are well-designed and the routes are easy to follow. Two observations: The alternative route between the Refuge de Nice and Lac Niré is not recommended. Only the GR trail is good. The loop seems to be abandoned after about a hundred meters and requires crossing a difficult stream twice, then you have to find your own way back up to the refuge through tall grass. Refuge des Merveilles: If there's no cell service, there are electrical outlets. It might be worth encouraging hikers to go all the way up to Lac des Merveilles... Knowing the area, that's what we did, much to the delight of our friends.
