    Mountaineering

    Beginner
Mountaineering is a demanding sport; consequently, there is no "beginner" physical level for it. If you have never mountaineered before, you can aim for an intermediate or advanced level.
    Intermediate
For fit hikers who wish to experience the high mountains. No specific mountaineering skills are required; the crampon work is straightforward. Guides are on hand to provide instruction and ensure your safety. The daily elevation gain generally ranges from 700 to a maximum of 1,000 meters.
    Confirmed
For those who engage in endurance or mountain sports (running, cycling, trail running, rock climbing, trekking, etc.) three or more times a week. You are capable of hiking for long hours in the mountains and ascending around 1,500 meters in a single day. Ideally, you have some prior high-altitude experience (such as walking in crampons), though this is not essential if you are in excellent physical condition. To aid acclimatization, it is recommended to go mountain hiking in the days leading up to the trip.
    Advanced
For those who regularly practice endurance or mountain sports (running, cycling, trail running, rock climbing, trekking, etc.)—at least four times a week. You are capable of hiking for over eight hours in the mountains and ascending between 1,500 and 2,000 vertical meters in a single day. You have mastered crampon techniques. Prior mountaineering experience (ascents or ice training) is mandatory.
    Expert
For those in excellent physical condition who regularly engage in mountain activities (rock climbing, mountaineering, ice climbing, etc.): you have mastered mountaineering techniques and are capable of undertaking climbs rated D or higher.

In a few words

Prepare yourself for a true high-mountain challenge in the heart of the most beautiful massifs of the Alps. This demanding mountaineering course is for enthusiasts with excellent physical condition and prior mastery of cramponing , rope work, and ice axe use.

Your adventure unfolds in two complementary stages. The first part takes you to Italy, to the Gran Paradiso massif, for three days of acclimatization and technical preparation. After reviewing the basic techniques through snow and ice climbing schools, you will ascend Gran Paradiso (4,061 m) via the Royal Route to refine your skills in a glacial environment.

After a night of rest in Chamonix, it's time for the main objective: the ascent of Mont Blanc over three days. Gradually climbing the Dôme du Goûter and then the spectacular Arête des Bosses, linking these major routes demands sustained physical commitment. Accompanied by your high-mountain guide , you'll traverse breathtaking scenery before reaching this legendary summit , the ultimate reward for an exceptional journey.

The highlights

  • Ascent of Mont Blanc via the Bosses ridge, a legendary route

Supervisor

The trip is led by a high-mountain guide who will provide the necessary technical information for a successful experience. The guide may need to modify the program to ensure safety based on mountain weather conditions or the physical condition of the participants.

Management

Security

Above 4,000 meters, wind or bad weather often makes the ascent impossible or too dangerous. We try to anticipate these factors as best we can and make the best decisions to help you reach the summit. The high-mountain guide accompanying you knows Mont Blanc intimately and will be best placed to assess the feasibility of the climb. Ultimately, they will decide whether or not to continue the ascent. For this course, we confirm the possibility of attempting the climb three days before departure. However, it is possible that the weather may ultimately be different from what was forecast (a frequent occurrence in Chamonix). In this case, the guide may still decide to modify the program or cancel the attempt on the morning of departure.
