Cycling on the island of Corfu

Get to grips with your rental bike. The first stage takes you through the city of Corfu to Kanoni and its famous chapel located on the water's edge.

After crossing the Halikiopoulos Lagoon, you'll ascend to the famous Achilleion Palace, once home to Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Sissi). Then, head towards the west coast along a scenic route and a small, shaded road overlooking the sea. This will lead you to the beautiful Paramonas Beach and the hotel where you'll spend two nights.

Today's route begins along a small coastal road towards the ruined Gardiki fort, then on to the Korission lagoon, separated from the sea by a vast and magnificent sandy beach called Halikounas. This area is a remarkable habitat for 126 bird species, including the greater flamingo, ibis, avocet, egret, and occasionally the Dalmatian pelican. Next, there's a pleasant climb to the Chlomos viewpoint before descending along the island's east coast. At the end of the day, you return to Paramonas via the large village of Agios Mattheos, famous for its European Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) olive oil. This is the second and final night of your stay in Paramonas.

After leaving Paramonas, you cross the Messongi plain before a pleasant climb to the Koyevinas crossroads. From there, a beautiful road winds through cypress trees, passing through charming villages and hamlets until you reach Pelekas, a hilltop village crowned by the "Kaiser's Throne," a tribute to Emperor Wilhelm II, offering panoramic views of central Corfu. The final stretch is more relaxed, following the vast Ropa plain and passing through other peaceful villages untouched by mass tourism until you arrive in Liapades, where you'll spend the next two nights (near the sea).

Heading towards Palaiokastritsa, you can visit its famous monastery and discover the five bays that have contributed to its renown. Then, you can gradually ascend to Lakones to admire its breathtaking panorama. After a short detour to the eagle's nest of the Aggelokastro fortress, where you can also take a stroll, you can descend to the expansive beach of Agios Georgios. The return to Liapades takes you through picturesque inland villages, some of which served as backdrops for the film "For Your Eyes Only," starring the famous James Bond. Last night in Liapades.

After traversing the coastal areas and hills, you will now set off to explore the mountains and the vast plateau in the north of Corfu. While you'll be using your motorcycle, the mountain reaches a height of 911 meters, or 904 meters depending on the source. This excursion will offer the opportunity to discover hidden valleys and traditional villages. The magnificent landscapes that unfold before you on every bend are not to be missed, culminating in the village of Sokraki, nestled in the heart of the island's summit plateau, which offers panoramic views of Corfu Bay. You will spend the night in Sokraki, high in the mountains.

The final day of cycling includes a beautiful optional climb from Sokraki to Mount Pantokrator, the island's highest point, offering fantastic panoramic views of Corfu, the Diapontia Islands (located north of Corfu), as well as the Epirus region of mainland Greece and the Albanian coast. Afterwards, enjoy a leisurely descent to Ipsos Bay, where you might want to stop for a swim, before a relaxed ride back to Corfu Town and your hotel. You will then need to return your bicycles. The cycling route is approximately 57 km; about 3 hours 30 minutes on an e-bike and 4 hours 20 minutes on a regular bike; +890 m, -1300 m; 55% minor roads, 45% main roads.

If you choose the shorter route, the starting point is also Sokraki, descending to Ipsos Bay and then on to Corfu Town. Approximately 35 km by bike; +380 m, -780 m; 35% minor roads, 65% main roads.

The stay ends after breakfast. You arrange your return transfer to the airport (not included in the price).
