Horseback riding trip in the Khan Khentii Mountains

This day is dedicated to preparing for the trek and meeting your horse. Each participant receives their horse and equipment. Our guide provides basic instructions for Mongolian riding and safety rules. After lunch, we take a 3-4 hour training ride around the camp to get used to our mounts and the pace of the journey. Riders also learn how to pack their belongings in their saddlebags. Those who wish can get up early the next day to accompany Pamba and his sons as they round up the horses on the steppe, an authentic experience of nomadic life.

Today we ascend the wide Baruun Bayan Gol valley. In the distance, the high plateaus of the Khentii Mountains come into view. After crossing a few small ridges and hills, we reach a rocky valley where we stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we traverse wild meadows, cross a wide valley, and follow a narrow path through bushes before arriving near the historical site of the Princess Temple (Gunjiin Sum), where we spend the night.

We continue our trek through beautiful rolling hills to the temple ruins. Lunch is enjoyed on a rocky promontory offering a stunning view of the valley. In the afternoon, we descend leisurely back to our camp near the Khökh Khad River. In the evening, we take time to let the horses rest and strengthen our bond with them, an important part of Mongolian equestrian tradition.

After breakfast, we continue our ride towards the Khongiin Gol valley. The landscape alternates between meadows, small hills, and verdant valleys. We proceed at a leisurely pace to fully appreciate nature.

We follow the Zuun Bayan Gol valley before crossing the river. Then, we climb to a panoramic ridge offering views of the vast pastures and valleys we traversed in the previous days. After lunch at the summit, we descend back into the valley to reach our campsite.

Upon our arrival, the team will have already set up the tents and prepared hot tea and drinks.

Today we begin our return journey. In some parts of the valley, experienced riders can trot or canter freely. In the afternoon, we meet up with Pambaga's family.

We set off again on horseback towards the Zamt pass. At the end of the day, we arrive at the home of another nomadic family, Chuka's family, where we spend the night.

We cross the Khuurugiin Valley before arriving at the famous Genghis Khan equestrian statue complex at Tsonjin Boldog, home to the world's largest equestrian statue. We settle into a tourist camp. In the afternoon, we attend an impressive Mongolian equestrian circus performance, showcasing the incredible skills of Mongolian horsemen.

Return to Ulaanbaatar in the morning. City tour: Zaisan Hill, Bogd Khan Palace Museum. Check-in at the hotel in the city center. In the evening, stroll through Sukhbaatar Square and the option to attend a traditional music and dance performance at the Tumen Ekh Theatre.
