Chadraa, chef équestre

Chadra is one of our agency's most experienced guides. A nomad, he knows every corner of the Khentii region, which he has explored on horseback since childhood. For over 20 years, he has been leading travelers, particularly French speakers, through the steppes, valleys, forests, and mountains of Mongolia.

A respected family man, a trusted figure, and an expert on Mongolian horses, Chadra combines competence, humility, and kindness. He knows how to adapt the routes and pace of the trek to the level and needs of the group, while generously sharing his knowledge, stories, and the simple practices of nomadic life.

Always attentive to the riders' well-being, discreet yet present, he is a valuable guide throughout the journey. With him, the adventure becomes more serene, more human, more authentic.

Its presence is a guarantee of safety, authenticity and a strong link with Mongolian culture.

Jombro
Jombro

Jombro is a young Mongolian horse guide, trained on the job alongside our most experienced guides, including Chadra. Originally from the Khentii region, he is deeply rooted in nomadic culture and passionate about sharing his way of life.

Serious, discreet, and always attentive, Jombro embodies the new generation of Mongolian guides: respectful of traditions, yet open to the world. He has an excellent knowledge of packhorses and routes through wild terrain, and rigorously ensures the group's safety.

His youth is a strength: energy, constant attentiveness, and genuine enthusiasm for showing Mongolia in a different light. Travelers appreciate his calm and reassuring presence, as well as his natural connection with horses.

He works closely with Chadra, ensuring strong team cohesion. Alongside him, you will discover the steppe through the eyes of a committed and passionate young nomad.

Management

Security

  1. Travel is done in 4x4 vehicles, perfectly suited to snowy roads and extreme weather conditions.
  2. Accommodation in private homes or heated yurts is carefully selected, guaranteeing warmth, safety and minimum comfort even in periods of intense cold.
  3. Travellers are informed and prepared for the winter environment: very low temperatures (down to -35°C), slow pace, need for quality warm equipment.
  4. If needed, the team has means of communication, and remains in contact with the office in Ulaanbaatar, ensuring constant monitoring of the group.

    Welcome and initial discoveries

    • Accommodation Staying with a local resident
    • Breakfast not included
    • Lunch included
    • Dinner included

Arrival in Ulaanbaatar early in the morning. You will be met by our team at the airport and transferred to your yurt hotel. In the afternoon, we will visit the Mongolian capital, including Gandan Monastery, where thousands of nomadic pilgrims come to pray. The visit to this ancient temple concludes with a prayer gathering. Afterwards, we will visit the market, where we will see locals doing their shopping. This evening, we will enjoy a dinner of local specialties in a yurt restaurant and spend the night at the yurt camp.

Generally, given the long journey and the frequent fatigue upon arrival, people are not receptive to any cultural or guided tours on the first day. For this reason, we prefer to offer the Ulaanbaatar tour at the end of your stay. Upon arrival, lunch will be provided at a standard restaurant in the city, and dinner will be at the yurt hotel.

Note

This is an exceptional winter trip; therefore, the itinerary and riding times are indicative only and may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances, weather conditions, flight delays, etc. Upon arrival, your French-speaking guide will explain everything as you go.

Please note that this trip takes place in Mongolia, in remote regions far removed from modern comforts. It is intended for travelers willing to respect local conditions and the nomadic way of life. This trip is not suitable for those seeking a level of comfort that meets Western standards. It is important to come with an open mind, a sense of simplicity, and adaptability to fully appreciate this authentic immersion.
