Lunches are picnic-style on hiking days and consist of local products . During the trek, meals are prepared by the logistics team's cook. You will eat in restaurants in towns and villages on sightseeing days.
Breakfast is often light, while lunch is the most copied meal . It's the perfect time to appreciate the delicious regional specialties. On the coast, you'll enjoy marinated fish, shrimp, and other seafood, the famous ceviche, made with lime, chilies, and onions. Meat dishes are often roasted, especially guinea pig (cuy), seasoned, and served with sweet potatoes, which are found mainly in the mountainous regions. Lomo Saltado, a dish made with minced meat, is a favorite throughout the country.
During the trek, boiled water is available daily for refilling your water bottles. Drinks, including bottled water, are at your own expense during your stay. You can refill your water bottles at your accommodations. It is recommended to treat the water with purification tablets (such as Micropur or Hydroclonazone). Avoid buying plastic bottles whenever possible, as they then need to be recycled. If you must buy bottled water, we advise you to purchase 5-liter bottles to refill your water bottles as needed. If you wish to buy these bottles, please inform your guide at the beginning of the trek so they can plan a stop at the supermarket.
