The stage between Aït Tigga and Azib Iriri marks a gradual ascent from the inhabited valleys to the high plateaus of the Siroua. Leaving the small Berber village of Aït Tigga, surrounded by terraced fields, the trail winds through fields and often follows the bed of a wadi, offering glimpses of traditional rural life, particularly farming and livestock herding. As the climb progresses, the landscape becomes more rocky, revealing the volcanic formations characteristic of the massif. Vegetation thins out, giving way to alpine pastures frequented by nomadic shepherds. Here, one can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding mountains and perhaps encounter transhumant herds.

From Azib Iriri (2,300 m), this stage takes you deeper into the volcanic highlands of the Siroua, towards Azib Azazegzane, another high-altitude sheepfold site used by Berber herders. The route unfolds in a stark, mineral landscape, with spectacular scenery of dark rocks, evidence of the region's ancient volcanic activity. The trail initially climbs gently through stony valleys before crossing plateaus dotted with dry bushes and clumps of wormwood. The atmosphere becomes increasingly wild and isolated. The trek passes through seasonal grazing areas where you might encounter flocks of goats or sheep, tended by nomadic shepherds. The panoramas open up towards the surrounding peaks, particularly in the direction of Jbel Siroua. Arriving at Azib Azazegzane offers a moment of peace and authenticity. This dry-stone camp, perched at over 2,500 m, is often used as a base for climbing the summit of Siroua. The bivouac takes place in a magnificent setting, under a remarkably clear starry sky, far from any permanent human presence. Bivouac at 2,500 m.

From Azib Azazegzane (approx. 2,500 m), this stage leads to Iferd Magous via a gentler high-altitude route, skirting Jbel Siroua without climbing it. The trail follows a balcony path through a typical volcanic landscape: vast plateaus, arid valleys, dark rocks sculpted by erosion, and high-altitude pastures used by nomadic shepherds. The hike is relatively moderate, with some regular ascents and descents, but no technical difficulties. You'll pass through areas of absolute silence, barely disturbed by the wind or the tinkling of cowbells. Along the way, you can glimpse the summit of Siroua in the distance, while enjoying panoramic views over the southern valleys. The arrival at Iferd Magous (approx. 2,800 m) is gentle. It is a vast pastoral area, occupied seasonally by nomadic encampments. The area is ideal for rest and contemplation, often used as a bivouac or a stopover before descending to the inhabited valleys. This quiet and remote spot perfectly embodies the spirit of the Siroua: a mountain that is simple, secluded, and welcoming.

From Iferd Magous (approx. 2,600 m), the route begins with a gradual ascent through a stark, desert landscape towards the summit of Jbel Siroua. The path winds between volcanic boulders, rounded domes, and stony slopes. The climb is not technically difficult, but requires a good level of fitness, especially in the final, steeper section, which involves traversing a scree slope. At the summit of Siroua (3,304 m), the panorama is spectacular: to the north, the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas, and to the south, the first desert foothills of the Anti-Atlas. This is a highlight of the trek, a breathtaking view between sky and mountain, in an atmosphere of profound solitude. The descent to Tagragra then follows a different route on the southeast slope. The trail is steep in places, with rocky sections that require careful navigation. As you descend, the landscape gradually changes: the volcanic colors give way to gentler, greener slopes, depending on the season. Tagragra is a grazing area situated around 2,400 meters, often used as a bivouac site. There you'll find dry-stone azibs (sheepfolds) and occasionally a few nomadic encampments. The place is peaceful and offers a beautiful view of the Siroua massif, which you've just climbed.
Day 6 -
Tagragra / Jebel Guiliz / Azib Tizgui. (2300 m)
- Activity Trekking
- Duration of the activity 4h
- Distance 6 km
- Positive elevation gain 200 m
- Negative elevation 300 m
- Accommodation Bivouac / Tent
- Breakfast included
- Lunch included
- Dinner included
From Tagragra (approximately 2,400 m), this stage begins with a climb towards Jebel Guiliz, a secondary but remarkable peak in the Siroua massif. The trail ascends gradually through rocky and grassy landscapes, occasionally punctuated by wind-sculpted rock formations. The ascent of Guiliz offers a beautiful panoramic view, less dramatic than the main summit of the Siroua, but often more peaceful and solitary. The summit of Jebel Guiliz (approximately 2,900 m) offers sweeping views of the entire massif, the valleys below, and the High Atlas ridges to the north. After a break at the summit, the descent begins towards Azib Tizgui, passing through pastoral plateaus and sometimes steep-sided valleys. Azib Tizgui is a typical transhumance site, located at an altitude of approximately 2,200–2,300 m, where nomadic shepherds set up camp during the warmer months. The area is peaceful, surrounded by verdant slopes in season, with a spring often nearby. It's an ideal spot for a bivouac, in a calm environment, perfect for resting after a day full of scenery and exertion.
Day 7 -
Azib Tizgui / the village and Tizgui Waterfalls / Ait Oubyal Valley, overnight stay in the village of Tislite
- Activity Trekking
- Duration of the activity 6h10
- Distance 16 km
- Positive elevation gain 120 m
- Negative elevation 650 m
- Accommodation Bivouac / Tent
- Breakfast included
- Lunch included
- Dinner included
From the Azib Tizgui pass (approximately 2,200 m), this stage begins with a gentle descent through alpine pastures, before gradually reaching the verdant valley where the village of Tizgui nestles. Here, the landscape becomes more cultivated, with agricultural terraces, barley fields, and almond trees, signs of a return to settled life after several days at altitude. Near the village, a detour to the Tizgui waterfalls is possible, a natural site popular with locals and hikers alike. Depending on the season, the waterfalls flow with varying degrees of intensity, but the setting is always refreshing, surrounded by the lush vegetation of the valley floor. The descent then continues into the Aït Oubyal valley, a fertile and inhabited valley characterized by mud-brick villages, irrigated gardens, and well-used mule tracks. The atmosphere becomes more lively, the landscapes more human-influenced. It's also an opportunity to meet the locals, who are often welcoming and curious about hikers. The stage ends at the Tislite gorges and village, where you can spend the night with a local family or in a guesthouse. This village, peacefully nestled in the foothills of the Siroua mountains, offers a beautiful conclusion to the trek: Berber hospitality, a harmonious natural setting, and a serene atmosphere ideal for ending the adventure.
Day 8 -

- Transportation Car - 05h30 - 230km
- Activity Hiking

The final day of the trek begins with a short connecting walk between the village of Tislite and Laarbaâ, often used as the exit point from the Siroua massif. The trail descends gently through the last orchards, terraced fields, and small Berber hamlets. The vegetation is denser, the landscapes gentler, and the villages closer together, signaling the return to lower altitudes. Laarbaâ N'Tazart (or simply Laarbaâ) is a small local rural center where the road re-enters the village. This is usually where you'll meet the minibus for the return transfer to Marrakech. 45 minutes on foot and 5 hours by car
