6-day family desert holiday from Marrakech

After waking up in the heart of the Sahara and having breakfast at the camp, the caravan sets off again. This day is dedicated to total immersion in the dune landscapes. The terrain changes as we walk, alternating between large dunes, sandy plateaus, and vast open spaces where only the wind traces the desert's contours.

The pace is steady, accompanied by Ali, a local French-speaking guide, and the camel drivers who look after the dromedaries carrying the equipment. A short break allows everyone to recover before continuing to the lunch spot, in the shade of a tamarisk tree or a dune, depending on the conditions.

In the afternoon, the trek continues into the heart of the Grand Erg, offering spectacular panoramas and a true sense of escape. At the end of the day, camp is set up in a new dune landscape. Free time to walk barefoot on the sand, admire the sunset, or simply enjoy the absolute tranquility before another evening under the stars.

This third stage takes you to the majestic dunes of Zahar, one of the most iconic areas of the Moroccan Sahara. The terrain becomes more demanding, alternating between long sand ridges, gradual climbs, and descents that test your endurance while offering a unique feeling of freedom. Each summit reveals a new panorama of the vast Grand Erg, where your gaze is lost among the waves of sand sculpted by the wind.

The camels move at the caravan's pace, carrying the equipment, while the hikers fully enjoy this immersion in a completely unspoiled environment. A short break allows them to rest before resuming their trek to the lunch spot.

Arriving at camp in the late afternoon offers a well-deserved moment of rest. Everyone has free time to explore the surrounding dunes, climb the highest sand peaks, photograph the landscapes, or simply appreciate the exceptional tranquility of the desert. As the sun disappears behind the dunes, the colors of the Sahara gradually change, offering a natural spectacle that marks one of the highlights of this trek.

A few hours' walk will take you to Erg Aït Ounir.

The dunes may seem similar, but to the experienced eye of the nomadic guides, each landform tells a story. Their ancestral knowledge of the desert allows them to choose the best routes, suitable even for camels, which cannot climb the steepest slopes.

As the days go by, you immerse yourself in Sahrawi traditions and discover a way of life deeply linked to the desert.

After a final sunrise in the desert, return to M'Hamid by 4x4, traversing the wild landscapes of the Sahara. This last leg of your journey offers a final opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the desert before returning to the comfort of our guesthouse. In the evening, share a final convivial dinner, exchange travel memories, and spend your last night in a warm and authentic atmosphere.

After breakfast, departure towards Ouarzazate and then Marrakech.

Along the way, visit the famous pottery village of Tamgroute, renowned for its traditional green ceramics, as well as its ancient Koranic library, which houses precious ancient manuscripts.
