A specialist in Saharan wildlife, Ibrahim knows the habits of the animals that live in the desert and where to observe them while respecting their habitat. He also guides photographers to the best locations to capture images of the wildlife, dunes, and spectacular landscapes of the Sahara.
Our local guides are experienced nomads, born in the heart of the vast and timeless Moroccan Sahara desert. From a young age, they learned to live in harmony with the desert, developing a deep knowledge of its landscapes, rhythms, and traditions.
Having spent their lives alongside camels and traversing ancient caravan routes, they possess invaluable knowledge passed down through generations. These historic paths were once used by their ancestors, who guided caravans from Marrakech to Timbuktu, transporting precious goods such as salt, gold, and ivory across the Sahara.
Their expertise goes far beyond simple navigation. They understand camel behavior, know how to read the subtle signs of the desert, and use traditional techniques to survive in this extreme environment. Even today, they are able to orient themselves by the stars, predict weather conditions, find water sources, and determine their direction using ancestral methods that have stood the test of time.

The first day of your 6-day trek in the Moroccan desert begins with an early departure from your accommodation in Marrakech, heading towards the High Atlas Mountains. You will cross the famous Tizi n'Tichka pass, offering breathtaking panoramic views of traditional Berber villages and mountain landscapes.
Lunch will be at Ksar Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its exceptional earthen architecture. Afterwards, you will continue your journey along the Draa Valley, the longest valley in Morocco, known for its lush palm groves and ancient kasbahs.
In the late afternoon, you will arrive in M'Hamid, the last village before the vast Sahara Desert. You will spend your first night in a comfortable riad or in our traditional bivouac under the stars, where you will enjoy a typical Moroccan dinner and a peaceful, restful night.

Our desert trek begins following in the footsteps of the camel. As soon as you are introduced to our team of nomadic experts, we will cross the Daraa River, where you will find yourself at the edge of one of the largest palm oases. The oases begin to blend into small sand dunes, heralding the start of the desert. Lunch will be served near the shrine of the holy marabout Sidi Naji, renowned for the crucial spiritual role he played in the lives of the nomads many years ago and continues to play today. You will have time to wander around the grounds and find a pleasant spot to admire the magical golden sunset.

After enjoying the sunrise and breakfast, we'll begin our trek to another area east of the Daraa River, where the sand dunes meet the Bani Mountains. This place is called Zmila. Here, you'll have the opportunity to witness a sunset unlike any other you've ever been to or will ever see. You'll watch the sunset from the mountains, and dinner and Berber tea will be ready once you reach the wilderness camp around the campfire under a starry sky.

This day is breathtaking, so we will start slowly towards the majestic Erg Zahar, which you will be able to see welcoming you miles away from the highest dunes in the entire Moroccan desert.
After 3.5 hours, we'll reach this breathtaking desert. Lunch will be served in a shady tamarisk tree, and in the evening, you'll walk barefoot to climb this immense zahar dune. Finally, once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with a stunning sunset, something you can only witness in this region. Golden, pristine sand, tranquility, and a place for meditation await you. As night falls, you'll enjoy an ancient nomadic tradition known locally as sand bread.

Exploration of Krayyat Jmal

It's time to cross the Draa River via the Erg Zahar towards Krayyat Jmal ( Krayyat means "legs" and Jmal means "dromedary"). This region of the Sahara is teeming with herds of dromedaries, and on some days, thousands of animals can be seen accompanied by dozens of nomadic families.
It is a relatively fertile area, close to the village, where children spend their holidays with their parents and can also go to school.
Lunch will be served under immense tamarisk trees. In the afternoon, you will walk towards the night bivouac, located in Krayyat Jmal, a secluded spot, ideal for recharging, meditating and freeing the mind and soul.
Day 5 -
End of Trek and Return to M'hamid and beyond

It's time to return to the village of M'hamid El Ghizlane. After sunrise and breakfast, a vehicle will be waiting to take you, but never your spirits or souls. There will be frequent stops and breaks on your return to your accommodation in Marrakech.
