The Vélomaritime by bike: from Saint-Malo to Roscoff in the heart of Brittany

Continue your adventure on the Vélomaritime with a superb stage between majestic headlands and wild nature. From Saint-Cast-le-Guildo, follow the bay of Fresnaye and observe the oyster beds before gaining altitude through the moors covered with heather, gorse and broom.

The highlight of the day awaits you at Cap Fréhel. Towering nearly 70 meters above the sea, this protected natural site offers spectacular panoramic views of the Breton coast. Then, continue on to Erquy via scenic paths and cycle tracks.

Leave the port of Erquy via beautiful, rolling coastal roads and quickly reach the seaside resort of Pléneuf-Val-André. Take a break overlooking the sea before continuing to the charming little port of Dahouët and its colorful boats.

Following the coastline, you reach the Yffiniac cove, at the end of the Bay of Saint-Brieuc. This wetland, a designated nature reserve, is a prime location for observing numerous bird species. The arrival in Saint-Brieuc then follows the old route of the "Little Train of Côtes-du-Nord," passing between viaducts and tunnels carved into the rock.

Get ready for the most sporting stage of the trip! From the historic centre of Saint-Brieuc, head towards the Penthièvre coast before making a first stop in the charming port of Binic.

The route then climbs along the cliffs of Goëlo. Small scenic roads lead you to the famous cliffs of Plouha, the highest in Brittany, offering magnificent views of the English Channel.

At the end of the day, descend back towards Paimpol, the famous "City of Icelanders". Its historic port and maritime atmosphere offer an ideal arrival after this day full of elevation gain and panoramic views.

Leave the port of Paimpol to cross the Breton countryside towards Lézardrieux, perched above the wide valley of the Trieux and offering superb views.

After crossing the Jaudy River, discover Tréguier, a charming small town with a rich historical heritage. Take the time to admire its architecture before continuing your journey.

The rest of the route alternates between small, bucolic roads and former railway lines converted into greenways, softening the hilly terrain. At the end of the day, you reach one of Brittany's most iconic landscapes: the Pink Granite Coast.

Start the day with the unmissable site of Ploumanac'h, where impressive blocks of pink granite sculpted by the elements make up one of the most spectacular landscapes of the Vélomaritime.

After about ten kilometers, reach Lannion and cross the Léguer river. Take the opportunity to explore the cobbled streets and half-timbered houses of this historic town.

Heading back towards the coast, pass at the foot of the Grand Rocher de Plestin before following the immense Grève de Saint-Michel. There you will see the Croix de Mi-lieue, an old landmark for travelers, before continuing on to Plougasnou.

For this final leg, leave Plougasnou and follow the coast to the Barnenez Cairn. Considered one of the oldest megalithic monuments in Europe, this exceptional site overlooks the sea.

Then, skirt the magnificent bay of Morlaix before crossing into the town. Take the time to admire its famous viaduct and wander through its historic streets.

For the final kilometers, gradually leave the coastline and cross the Breton bocage countryside on small roads lined with hedges and stone walls. Market gardens signal your arrival in Roscoff , the end of this beautiful 359 km journey on the Vélomaritime.
