It was exactly what we were expecting; a little more presence at the start would have been perfect.

From Carcassonne to Sète along the Canal du Midi by bike: we had to wait a long time before we even saw the canal! And when we did cycle alongside it, it was a short stretch compared to the other roads we took, which were unappealing (little to see) and often unsafe for cycling (no cycle paths, main roads, etc.). The distances were poorly distributed over the 5 days: one day was 45km with 750m of elevation gain, another was 65km with dangerous sections (main roads), and the last day was 27km along the coast. Luggage transfers were at inconvenient times: 9 am on the days of the longest stages and only available at 4:30 pm on the last day, when the stage was 27km! The app required 4G despite the initial charge, resulting in excessive battery and mobile data consumption, and there were quite a few bugs when entering urban areas. Too many different contact methods: the app, email, one emergency number, one information hotline... In short, the itinerary wasn't what was expected based on the description, the difficulty level needs to be revised or the distance breakdown redefined, and the services of the local agency were far below expectations. I don't recommend it.

Hello Ronald,

We are sincerely sorry to read of your disappointment regarding this cycling trip.

Following the fires that occurred just before your departure, our partner has reorganized the itinerary to guarantee your safety, while maintaining the originally planned distances and upgrading you to 4* accommodation.

Regarding logistical aspects (luggage transfer, app functionality, contact channels), these are detailed in advance and in your travel documents. Our team remains available throughout your stay via the dedicated emergency number.

We regret that these factors have negatively impacted your experience, despite the efforts made to offer you a safe and suitable stay in an exceptional context.

Cycling tour along the Canal du Midi and through the Corbières region. We enjoyed the very varied route, the superb scenery, and the quiet roads and paths. We received a very warm welcome at all our accommodations.

Despite some initial hiccups during the booking process, everything went smoothly. The hotels were well-chosen, and the luggage transfer worked perfectly. The only downside was the lack of information and advice on easily accessible points of interest along the route. The program could be improved: it's a shame that no options were offered for easily returning to the starting point.

Decathlon Travel was fantastic in organizing our 5-day cycling trip along the Canal du Midi. The route was incredibly pleasant, with stages of around 50 km from Castelnaudary to Sète (the last and shortest stage being 27 km). The accommodations were excellent, and the luggage transport was superbly organized. The lock keepers were always happy to share anecdotes and the history of the Canal. We had many wonderful encounters with people navigating the canal. Beautiful scenery, an easy and well-marked route, and a week of fantastic weather (cycling in the sunshine was pure bliss!) made for a truly immersive experience.

We had a wonderful trip, even though we initially planned to only cycle around the Canal du Midi. We were surprised to find ourselves in the Corbières region. We're not physically fit enough for climbs like that, and we hadn't brought electric bikes. It's a shame this wasn't mentioned more clearly in the trip description.
