Born and raised on the beaches of South Africa, Shannon grew up living constantly in and around the ocean. Whether it was surfing, coastal rescue (lifeguard), deep-sea fishing, or long-distance open-water swimming, as long as he was in the ocean, he was happy.


He started surfing very young, at the age of 6, and participated in junior competitions. More than 30 years later, his passion has turned to coaching and teaching surfing. Now based in Sri Lanka, he helps surfers of all levels to increase their number of waves or correct small technical aspects — while never forgetting the most important thing: having fun!


Shannon's love for surfing and the ocean, as well as his desire to give back to what has brought him so much happiness, are at the heart of everything he does.
