In a few words

Climb Kilimanjaro via the secluded and spectacular Umbwe route, renowned for its technical difficulty and steep slopes . This direct route from the south face is for experienced trekkers seeking a challenge and solitude at altitude . Upon arrival, you'll be welcomed for a restful night at a hotel before the main trek begins. The hike starts in the heart of a dense rainforest before ascending to the rocky heights of the massif. Each campsite, nestled at different altitudes, allows for gradual acclimatization , a key element for reaching the mythical Uhuru Peak , Africa's highest point. The descent through the Mweka Gate offers a final plunge into the heart of the lush vegetation. A last night at a hotel concludes this exceptional experience. To extend your adventure, extensions to the northern parks or the beaches of Zanzibar are possible.

The highlights

  • A challenging ascent via the wild Umbwe route, reserved for experienced trekkers.
  • An immersive journey through tropical jungle and spectacular mineral landscapes
  • High-altitude camps for optimal acclimatization before the summit

Security

Safety is our top priority. If a member of the group develops acute mountain sickness or encounters any other emergency, we have protocols in place to intervene quickly:

  1. Trained guides: Our guides are certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and trained to recognize the symptoms of altitude sickness and provide first aid.
  2. Portable oxygen: Oxygen cylinders are available and can be administered if someone shows signs of distress.
  3. Communication: The guides have satellite phones or radios for instant communication with our base and emergency services.
  4. Evacuation procedures: If necessary, we arrange a rapid evacuation on a stretcher by the porters to the nearest medical facility, or a rescue by helicopter (in rare cases).
  5. Emergency medical kit: Complete first aid kits accompany each climb.
  6. 24/7 Support: Our operational team is monitoring the ascent's progress remotely to provide additional support if needed.
