Meet our guide in the early afternoon in Barboleuse, at the foot of the Vaud Alps. After checking our individual equipment and distributing the food needed for our three days of self-sufficiency, we set off on our snowshoes towards the Diablerets massif. The path climbs through a beautiful forest and opens onto the vast Anzeinde alpine pasture, where we discover our refuge for the next three days. If we are the first to arrive, we will need to clear the entrance of snow and prepare this winter-dormant cabin (setting up the mattresses, bringing firewood out of storage, etc.). We then prepare our Christmas Eve feast, which we will share with our companions for the evening.
