In the morning you will have an appointment at 8:15 am (time may be changed) at the dive center to begin your PADI Open Water training.
You will meet your instructor who will introduce you to the Dune Baleares Fornells diving center, the diving equipment and explain the practical part in detail.
You will make 2 dives between 09:00 and 13:30.
The Open Water training program is structured around three aspects:
- theoretical training,
- training in a sheltered environment, and
- training in a natural environment.
The theoretical section is accessible online as soon as you register. It's a fun and interactive learning experience that allows you to acquire the knowledge necessary for a good understanding of the mechanisms involved in scuba diving. It consists of 5 chapters. At the end of each chapter, you will have to complete Knowledge Review exercises. At the end of the 5th chapter, you will have to take an online exam.
Our advice? Complete this part before your trip. This way, at your own pace and without pressure, you'll have time to absorb all the concepts covered. And of course, you can ask the instructor questions throughout the training if anything is unclear.
Your instructor will take the time to summarize with you, as you progress, the five chapters of theory, linking them to the practical part.
This is the best way to make the course your own!
The first day is all about adventure! After a briefing (theory) at the dive center, you'll head out on the boat. Everything begins in a "protected" environment: very shallow water and calm conditions. This is where you'll try underwater breathing for the first time. Your instructor will demonstrate basic exercises, which you'll practice with them until you feel comfortable. Safety, ease of movement, communication, and equipment handling: the exercises are varied, accessible, and fun.
After this training session, it's lunchtime. Remember to bring something to recharge your batteries, and above all, stay well hydrated. Diving makes you hungry!
Next, you'll dive at "real" dive sites, in a natural environment. The conditions are those any diver would encounter, with a depth initially limited to 12 meters, then to 18 meters in the following days. You'll repeat some of the exercises practiced previously and, of course, enjoy a superb underwater excursion! Open your eyes wide, relax: that's it, you're a diver! The following two days also consist of two dives. After three days of progression, a total of 6 dives, and validation of your theoretical knowledge, your instructor will award you the well-deserved prize: your Open Water certification! Welcome to our extended family!
