The expert's opinion

Cycling on a regular bike requires consistent training over several days. However, on an electric bike, it remains achievable with daily cycling. In the mountainous sections around Porto, it's important to take the time to ride in Eco mode to conserve battery power, as well as on the Vivario-Zicavo stage. On a regular bike, these are two long stages, but doable if you allow time for recovery during lunch breaks.

Security

The GT20 route uses small secondary roads where you will be really quiet in terms of traffic.

Sometimes you have to take slightly busier roads to reach these peaceful little roads, but they remain very much in the minority!

In terms of safety, we remain on small roads which are certainly very quiet, but the rules for cyclists still apply.
