For your weekend getaway, set off to conquer the lakes and peaks of the Pyrenees! Explore the trails of the Haute-Ariège region , discover its breathtaking landscapes, numerous lakes, and wild summits and ridges . After your first day of hiking, enjoy the cozy atmosphere of your gîte : relax by the fire and then savor a convivial moment over a delicious mountain meal! The next morning, the adventure continues with a hike to the border of Andorra for an even more immersive experience ! No excuses not to enjoy this breath of fresh air ; this trip is easily accessible by train, and if you're coming from Paris, simply hop on a night train from Gare d'Austerlitz on Friday evening! With full board included , everything is in place for a perfect weekend!

Arrival between 9am and 9:30am (9:15am in front of the train station for those arriving by train). Breakfast and preparation for the hike.
This first day takes you to an altitude of over 2,000 meters to discover the ridges, peaks, and lakes of the Haute-Ariège. A true breath of fresh air in the "heart of the Ariège's little Quebec," with its windswept steppe areas, blueberry moors, peat bogs and wetlands where Arctic cottongrass grows, and lakes with crystal-clear waters in shades of blue and green... A complete change of scenery is guaranteed on this hike, which will also be an opportunity to prepare you for the "ascent" the following day!

Set off for a beautiful day of hiking where you will experience the feeling of freedom that comes from wide open spaces and 360° views from a summit valiantly climbed! You will thus dominate the valleys and lakes, and the only sound you will hear will be that of the wind blowing through the peaks of our mountains.
You'll begin by hiking through a beech forest, then across high-altitude meadows, continuing your ascent along a path that winds through a series of rocky outcrops to finally discover an ancient glacial cirque and its lake, nestled in the heart of an amphitheater. Next, we'll continue our climb, reaching mountain passes, wild ridges, and summits! Along the way, we might encounter the sheep tended by Aurore the Shepherdess, and we'll likely have the chance to hear or spot some marmots that live below her cabin.

Return to the gîte and dispersal between 6pm and 7:30pm.

Accommodation
You'll be staying in a comfortable gîte nestled in the heart of a charming village in Ariège . It's a place where it's good to live, eat, sleep, laugh, share, relax and recharge.
Your hosts warmly welcome you to one of the four rooms they have renovated using natural materials, creating an authentic, chalet-style atmosphere . You will sleep on high-quality organic bedding and enjoy carefully selected linens (organic cotton or Oeko-Tex certified) for a healthy and restorative sleep.
A cozy lounge area with a wood-burning stove and a zen space with a library dedicated to nature, the mountains and well-being are at your disposal, as well as numerous outdoor spaces inviting you to relax and contemplate the surrounding mountains.
Access
Your partner provides free transfers between Ax-les-Thermes train station and the gîte, as well as between the town centre of Ax-les-Thermes and the gîte if you have booked an extra night before or after your stay in one of the hotels in this charming little spa town.
