We invite you to Lake Nasser for a truly beautiful and authentic journey, a rare experience indeed, far from the tourist crowds yet so close to the legend of the pharaohs. Aboard our boat and during scenic hikes along the shores, we'll travel down the lake to Abu Simbel, passing by the major sites rescued from the waters of the Aswan High Dam. Lake Nasser remained closed to the public for a long time and is only now opening its doors to us for the adventure of a journey on foot and by boat to Abu Simbel. Drifting along the water and making stops in the Nubian Desert, we'll delve into the heart of ancient Egypt, visiting the Temple of Harmakis dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, the Temple of Dakka devoted to Thoth, and the Greco-Roman Temple of Meharraka, saved from the waters of the Aswan Dam. Intense emotions returned to El Maqui as, from atop the dunes plunging into the lake, we allowed ourselves a few moments of contemplation amidst a unique, intense, and pristine landscape. We disembarked our boat at Abu Simbel for another journey through time, visiting its temples erected in honor of Ramses II. Then we explored the Valley of the Kings, home to the magnificent tombs of the Upper Egyptian dynasties. We concluded our trip with the monumental Karnak Temple.

Early morning departure by minibus or train to Aswan, continuing on to Garf Hussein, a former fishing port where our boat awaits. First glimpse of the Nubian Desert, then sailing towards Madiq. Meals and overnight stay on board. 5 hours by minibus and 4 hours by boat.Day 2 -
Wadi El Seboua oasis - Harmakis and Meharraka temples - El Malqui dunes - Amada.

In the morning, we hike to the Wadi El Seboua oasis. We visit the great temple of Wadi El Seboua (the Valley of the Lions), which takes its name from the entrance flanked by two rows of sphinx-like lions. Next, we visit the Harmakis temple dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, the Dakka temple dedicated to Thoth, and the Greco-Roman temple of Meharraka, all saved from the rising waters during the construction of the Aswan Dam. We walk to our boat upstream from Wadi El Seboua before sailing towards El Malqui, where we can climb the dunes that plunge directly into the lake. This landscape is intensely pristine and beautiful, truly unique. We then continue to Amada.Day 3 -

Hike towards the Amada site through this sublime landscape between desert and sea. Upon arrival, visit the small temple, the only remaining vestige of the temples built in Nubia during the 18th Dynasty. Nearby stands the Temple of Derr, dedicated to Amun-Ra. We return to our boat and sail towards Kasr Ibrim to visit the Roman fortress, the only vestige remaining in its original location on the eastern shore of the lake after the creation of Lake Nasser in the 1960s. We continue sailing and overnight on board.Day 4 -

A morning hike on an island near Toshka, in virtually untouched nature, where we observe numerous birds, including grey herons. We return by boat to the west bank towards Abu Simbel. Arriving at this unique site by sea is an exceptional experience. In the evening, there is an optional opportunity to attend the magical sound and light show at the temples of Ramses II and Nefertari.Day 5 -

Visit the Abu Simbel temples at sunrise. These temples, carved into the sandstone cliff, were built to glorify Ramses II. Submerged by the rising waters after the construction of the new dam, they were relocated with the help of UNESCO. Departure by minibus for Aswan in the late morning. Lunch in the souks. Visit to the west bank of Luxor: the Colossi of Memnon, which, according to legend, emit mysterious sounds at dawn, then the Valley of the Kings, home to the magnificent tombs of the Upper Egyptian dynasties, and finally the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. IN A HOTEL:
In Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Abu Simbel, we stayed in good quality hotels, selected for their services. However, it's worth noting that in the megacity of Cairo (soon to have 20 million inhabitants...), it's virtually impossible to find a "quiet" establishment: bring your earplugs!
ON LAKE NASSER:
We use a motorboat perfectly suited for exploration: there are only 5 of this type on the whole of Lake Nasser (a lake that is 500 km long).
The boat has 8 twin cabins with 15 possible berths, but we limit the number of participants on our trip on Lake Nasser to 12 people.
The boat is equipped with two shared shower/toilet cabins. Blankets and sheets are provided.
We have a generator for electricity and a water heater for showers (of limited capacity).

We most often travel with a charter company that offers comfortable direct flights between Paris and Luxor. Flight times are not known far in advance. Therefore, we advise you to wait until you receive your travel confirmation before booking your connecting flights, unless you have flexible tickets connecting to Paris. Here is a sample flight itinerary: Outbound: Roissy 8:00 PM - Luxor 1:00 AM; Return: Luxor 2:30 PM - Roissy 7:00 PM. Note: Depending on availability at the time of your booking, we may be able to modify this flight itinerary to depart from your city. In this case, your flight will transit through Cairo and then take a domestic flight to Luxor. There would be an additional charge; please feel free to ask us about this. If your flight is with a charter company, onboard services (drinks, meals, etc.) may be chargeable. We advise you to bring your own food and drinks before your flight.
