The expert's opinion

Circuit characteristics:

The program includes an average of 2 to 6 hours of activities per day. It has been designed to leave you free time to relax, read, or simply enjoy the unique atmosphere of Norway.

Recommended physical preparation:

No need to be a seasoned adventurer: the activities are accessible to all those who like to walk for a few hours, take the time to discover, and marvel at the rhythm of nature.

Physical activity during the stay:

The trip presents no particular difficulties and is suitable for participants in good physical condition. The weather can be changeable (rain, wind, temperature variations), making some days more strenuous. Walking time alternates with travel by transport, allowing participants to adjust their effort level. Each day ends in comfortable accommodation.

In May and June, the Norwegian spring can still offer snowy landscapes, especially around Finse.

Spirit of the stay:

This trip is experienced in a small group, in a participatory and friendly atmosphere. Everyone is invited to lend a hand: helping prepare meals, loading luggage onto trains and boats… all these small gestures strengthen group cohesion. Solidarity, mutual support, and good humor are the keys to a successful adventure. It is this collective dynamic that makes the experience so rich and authentic.

Suitable for ages 14 and up.

Note

This itinerary is provided for informational purposes only. Depending on weather or operational conditions, your tour guide may adjust the order of the days to ensure your safety and that of the group, or for logistical reasons. Train and boat schedules may also lead to slight changes in the daily itinerary.

Group combinations:

This program can accommodate participants from the "Full Discovery of Southern Norway" tour, who began their trip a week earlier exploring the great fjords of the south, or participants from the "From the Fjords of Southern Norway to the Northern Archipelagos" tour, extending their adventure by a week to discover the north of the country. We sometimes combine tours on the same week to ensure a sufficient number of participants for departure. This does not affect the maximum number of participants for the trip.

It was incredibly difficult to get what I wanted before departure (flight requests, answers to questions, etc.), and I almost gave up on going. But the trip itself was fantastic, a great mix of activities, sightseeing, and relaxation; and our guide Tristan was wonderful—friendly, attentive, able to adapt to the group's wishes, and generous with his knowledge.

A magnificent trip to Norway! It was my first time traveling to this stunning country... and also my first experience on an organized group tour. I have absolutely no regrets! The organization was top-notch, our guide Eric was incredibly friendly, and the hotels and mountain lodge were all very comfortable... if you're still hesitating, don't! Norway, its fjords, glaciers, and breathtaking scenery await you :)

I found several things disappointing: 1) the guide didn't have my name on him when we arrived at the airport… 2) Carrying heavy groceries with our travel bags… it was really inconvenient not having a van available… 3) the best part of the trip: sleeping near a glacier: canceled due to water damage… 4) too much free time… 5) too many overly touristy places…

Hello Jacques,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review following your stay in Norway.

We sincerely apologize for the absence of your name on the guide's arrival list.

We understand that it can be unpleasant not to feel expected. However, we assure you that you were indeed on the list of participants.

After some internal research, it appears that this was a missed update in the transmission of information from our partner to its teams on site.

Regarding your comment about carrying heavy loads, we would like to clarify that this trip is participatory.

In this capacity, travelers actively assist the guide with the logistics of the trip (transporting group belongings, participating in meals, washing dishes, setting up and taking down tents when camping, etc.)

Furthermore, this route was designed using sustainable transportation, without vans, focusing on local transport (taxi, ferry, speedboat and train). This was a deliberate choice on the part of our partner.

Your itinerary has indeed been changed due to the unavailability of the Finsehytta mountain refuge. This establishment had to close temporarily following problems with faulty sanitary facilities, and it is the only accommodation in the area.

We are sorry for this setback, which is beyond our control.

We understand that the experience is not the same, but the alternative accommodation was of a higher standard than the refuge.

Moreover, when it was time to catch the train again, the group was able to take a longer break in the village of Myrdal, a typical small mountain station, and enjoy a beautiful hike near its famous waterfall, a moment not planned in the program, a nice added value, in our opinion.

Regarding "hyper-touristy" destinations, this proposed tour explores southern Norway, a region that is very well-known and indeed very popular. This is also what makes it so appealing.

Despite our efforts to avoid overcrowded places, we do not always manage to avoid them, but we nevertheless think it would be a shame not to show you these places.

We hope, however, that you will retain fond memories of your trip.

A wonderful small-group trip combining city visits (Bergen and Oslo) and hiking in stunning natural surroundings (a second day of hiking would have been even better!). The boat trip up the fjord followed by the train to Finse guaranteed an incredible change of scenery.
Very comfortable and well-located hotels in the city centre and a superb refuge.
