Electric mountain biking in Morocco between rocky desert and mountains

From Marrakech, we drive towards the Agafay desert. This road, rather short, completely changes the landscape.

For four days, we set off on mountain bikes to explore the diverse landscapes of the Atlas Mountains, from rocky desert to mountains. Far from the usual routes, the journey takes us along little-used trails, guided safely by a professional.

It's finally time to set off on an adventure from the Agafay Desert, along tracks far from the beaten path. The desert gradually gives way to the first hills, dotted with Berber villages and terraced fields. The landscape unfolds progressively beneath our wheels, alternating between gentle climbs and exhilarating descents. The pace is pleasant, the sensations multiply.

A simple and tasty lunch, shared in the great outdoors or at a local's home, allows us to regain our strength.

In the afternoon, we continue towards Amizmiz, nestled in the High Atlas Mountains. Here, the cool air contrasts sharply with the heat of the tracks.

At the end of the day, we put away the bikes and return to the comfort of our accommodation for the night.

Today we're heading for the heights! This day takes us on a gradual ascent to 2000 meters, through steep valleys and holm oak forests. As the altitude increases, the vegetation changes, the air becomes crisper, and the views more spectacular.

We pass through mountain villages where time seems to stand still. Children greet us as we go, and impromptu encounters punctuate the climb. Lunch, simple and hearty, provides a well-deserved break.

In Ardouz, the welcome at Ali's place immerses us in a mountain atmosphere. The fire crackles, the tagine simmers… Here, we take the time to integrate.

We leave the heights of Ardouz for a descent offering varied scenery. The first few kilometers unfold a mosaic of farmland, streams, and stony paths. The terrain is perfect for thrilling rides.

As the kilometers pass, we catch sight of Lake Lalla Takerkoust, a peaceful mirror with silvery reflections. Before reaching it, we stop for a welcome picnic in the shade of the olive trees.

The final part of the stage runs along the banks of the dam. The atmosphere there is calm, conducive to contemplation.

We begin this final day with memories of the previous days fresh in our minds: the high altitudes, the villages we passed through, the shared effort. Our pace is leisurely, driven by the desire to enjoy the journey one last time.

From the shores of Lake Lalla Takerkoust, we resume our journey towards the Agafay Desert. The terrain becomes gentler, the colors more arid. A few technical sections punctuate this otherwise smoother stage.

A picnic lunch surrounded by the arid landscapes of Agafay awaits us.

We leave the Agafay desert to return to Marrakech.

Upon arrival, we are dropped off at our hotel to enjoy a well-deserved moment of relaxation.
