From La Rochelle, you'll take a bus to Île de Ré to meet your host at the port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré. The first day's itinerary includes a 27.5 km (approximately 2 hours 45 minutes) bike ride south, exploring Saint-Martin, the island's capital, encircled by its Vauban fortifications, and La Flotte, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France." After a pleasant break on a terrace overlooking the sailboats, you'll cycle along the beaches of Rivedoux, the only town on the island with beaches on both its north and south sides, before reaching Le Bois-Plage, a seaside resort and village with narrow lanes lined with hollyhocks. Finally, a stop at the island's winegrowers' cooperative will introduce you to local island products. At the end of the day, meet your host in Saint-Martin-de-Ré for a delicious meal at the port and a good night's sleep on the boat before the next leg of your adventure.
Please note: bicycles are not included in the booking for this stay.
