This trip is designed for those who have kayaked at least a few times and are in good physical condition. It is also perfectly suited to those who have never kayaked before but are accustomed to moderate physical activity. This type of trip can be done as a family, with younger children (13-16 years old) accompanied in double kayaks by a parent.

The sea crossing to Île-d'Houat:

Once at the Quiberon maritime station (Port-Maria), you embark for the final crossing.


Main company (all year round) : Compagnie Océane.

Crossing time : Approximately 40 to 50 minutes of sailing.

Arrival on the island : The boat docks at the Port of Saint-Gildas. As the island is small and car-free, travel is exclusively on foot (allow 5 to 15 minutes to walk up to the heart of the village).

Nearest train station: Auray train station (all year round) or Quiberon train station (in summer only).

Travel from Paris: Take a direct TGV INOUI from Paris Gare Montparnasse to Auray station (allow approximately 2 hours 40 minutes ).

From the train station to the Quiberon ferry terminal:

  1. In summer (July/August): Board the "Tire-Bouchon" train which directly connects Auray station to Quiberon station in 45 minutes, then walk 15 minutes (or take the paid shuttle) to Port-Maria.
  2. The rest of the year: Take the BreizhGo bus (Line 1) right in front of Auray station, which drops you off at Quiberon maritime station in about 45 to 55 minutes (ticket at €2.50 ).
  3. By taxi / private hire vehicle: Allow approximately 35 minutes journey time from Auray (estimated fare between €60 and €85 depending on the day and time).

Travel to the place of stay with parking available

As the island is car-free, you must leave your vehicle on the mainland in a car park in Quiberon.

Prolonged parking is prohibited on the streets of Quiberon near the port. You must use the town's supervised, paid parking lots, which include a free shuttle to the ferry terminal.

  1. Sémaphore car park: Located at the entrance to Quiberon. Open from April to October, it offers long-term packages with regular free shuttles to Port-Maria.
  2. Sizun parking: Another paid option with a security guard open for a large part of the year.
  3. Note: There is no completely free long-term public parking in the immediate vicinity of the Quiberon ferry terminal during peak season.
